I'm so damn happy right now....... I can barely think. I wish I had my thread from the other day, but I didn't bookmark it. It was just too painful to think about.

To recap.

I have had a thing for this woman that was in one of my classes a few years ago. She's an incredibly talented and intelligent person. Just jaw droppingly smart, strong and opinionated. We always flirted etc and were getting to be pretty good friends.

Well, on the last day of class, I don't know we were both in bad moods or something, and we just said a quick goodbye. But, after that, a few minutes later I was with another friend from class and she walked by us, and I pretty much just let her walk out of my life. We kept in touch through e-mail a bit, but nothing ever worked out. I couldn't dig myself out of a hole with her let alone win her over. After a while, we just never kept in touch. Then she never answered my last few e-mails so I quit sending them.

I regretted letting her go more than anything I ever have in my life. It's been tearing me up off and on for two years, well, a little over two years now. The image of her walking away has haunted me.

But I had always held out hope that since we lived in the same city, went to the same school and often attended the same type of events, that we may run into each other some time, and I could, at least, get closure. If not rectify the situation and get along again. However, she just recently graduated, and I believed was going to move back to wherever she was from and be gone forever. It just broke me up that any chance was gone.

So I made a thread the other day detailing how I felt. Somebody suggested another e-mail, so I sent her one. I only had her school one, which I wasn't sure was still active anymore, but I did it anyway. I sent her a really sweet, nice e-mail, not overly needy or anything, but, well, I hope all you women out there get the chance to have somebody say to you the things I said to her. That's about the best I can describe it. I was resigned to not getting an answer, but I thought I did my best to get closure. Several days passed by and nothing. So I just forgot about it.

Then minutes before I started this post, I opened up my e-mail, deleted a few things and was like:"WTF is this?". I saw it was her and was nervous as hell that she might be telling me to leave her the eff alone or something. But she said, she's still in town, and she wanted me to know she got my e-mail and would be in touch. :)

Honestly, I'm not hoping for the world here. I don't expect her to come running to me and melt in my arms or anything. I just want closure. I'd just like to hug her and say goodbye. To feel what it would be like, even if it was for a half a second, to hold her and the whisper something in her ear and that will be that. I will have made peace with my regret. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. And, if my fellow DUers didn't convince me to send her one last e-mail then.... well, I would never have done it. Thanks to all of those who supported me when I was feeling badly the other day.

Yup, today is a good day for me. :)
