Here's my RANT!
No, I do not want to spend Saturday morning doing your hair for a wedding you have tonight. But not just this minute, because you have to go tan first and then run to the store for some earrings, but you need me to not go to the mall for a birthday gift because I have to be right there....waiting for you to call when you get back. Yes, this is what you just called and asked me. Essentially, "Will you put your life on hold while I run around and get my shit done and then give me a$75 updo that will take you over an hour for free?"

Here's the thing folks....when I stopped doing hair in the shop, I really wanted to stop doing hair forever. But, since I do dabble once in a while, we do it by my time schedule....

GGGGGrrrrrrrr.

Have a good day DU! :hi:

you can show her that you're "annoyed" and inconvenienced.

2. What the hell is wrong with people?
If someone were doing something for me for free, I'd set a time with them and make sure not to be late.

Common courtesy isn't these days. x(

9. It really disappoints me too. She can be a great person but she
is one of those user types. She'll tell you how wonderful you are while walking all over you. Basically it's my fault for letting her.

that was a great move for you

realizing your boundaries and then communicating them
its not easy for most people

and if you happen to not be back home when she is able to get to your place then it may be a much needed lesson for her

not that im suggesting that or anything

have fun regardless

7. I love you, MrsGrumpy!
Can I just say that that sort of behavior led a couple of girlfriends and me to just let go of this bridezilla gf of ours? That crap went on for a year, and we just couldn't take it any more. Ask Rabrrrrrr!

23. OMG- that's awful. And I'd use the vomit smilie if it didn't
make me feel queasy! After a while, none of us could take the fact that she'd forgot who she was, and who we were, and started dividing the world into "cute" and "not cute".

My sympathies...:hi:

20. Reminds me of one of my pet peeves
Which is when hair stylists give me the "You are using the wrong shampoo and need to buy this expensive salon product" lecture. Last time I had my hair cut, when she asked "What kind of shampoo do you use?" I said "What kind do you think I am using?"

Shut her right up. :)

21. Good for you baby!! They are all the same. Actually, the best Shampoo
on the market is also the cheapest. It used to go by the name Unicure and was 99 cents, now it's called Tres' Semme. I used to recommend it to my clients...and get in trouble. :hi:

22. WOW - are you psychic?
I just recently discovered that brand. You are right - it is awesome. I have very thick hair and it is the only shampoo and conditioner I have ever used that leaves my hair so manageable that I can finger comb it after washing it. (I discovered that by accident when I went out of town not long ago and neglected to pack my comb:) ) My hair also seems to stay clean longer. I do not like washing it every day. It seems to look better the day after I wash it.

My friend was recently at a hotel and their complimentary shampoo is wonderful. It is labeled 'honey shampoo'. We have been trying to figure out who makes it and where we can get some more.

25. If someone were doing me a favor like that
I'd bend over backwards for THEM, not expect them to do that for me.

Maybe she's just so stressed out (is it her wedding, or is she in it?) that's she's forgotten to be considerate. Not that that's an excuse, exactly, but sometimes normally thoughtful people transform into bridezillas because they get so caught up in it. And you want to kill them.

I quit being a web designer by trade several years ago yet people are still always bugging me to do stuff for them for free or old clients still emailing me wanting updates all the time. They have no clue how time consuming it is!

29. I get the same kind of thing
Since I used to be a psychotherapist I get people asking me to fix their marriage, counsel their rebellious teens, tell them how to deal with their crazy sister -in-law. Uh uh, not unless you're paying me a hundred fifty bucks an hour. And I can't do it over coffee when I have a meeting with my publisher in fifteen minutes.

Hair dressers get it really bad, therapists, nurses, get it bad. Any career that deals with people. When was the last time someone asked a petrochemical engineer to do their job for free and put their life on hold for someone else's convenience?

Rant over.

Have a great day MrsGrumpy :)

Khash.

31. I was once *very* sought after as a clothing alterationist.
I worked out of my home. When I made the decision to quit, I had to totally quit.
No exceptions, because once you do X for someone, word spreads,
and next thing you know you're back to square one.

I gave a health reason for quitting(my neck was getting messed up).
I was still getting phone calls more than a year later from desperate customers.
I don't even mention that I possess a sewing machine now, because it is such a sought-after skill.
