why are fundies against birth control but not against |
|
medical procedures that allow infertile women to have children, don't those go against God's will?

2. Not all fundies are against all forms of birth control |
|
Nearly all would limit both birth control and fertility treatments to married couples. Some birth control is considered abortificatns by fundies. IUD's being one example.

5. for the most part, fundies are not against birth control |
|
Other than the Catholics, and a few very small, cult-like denominations, most fundie churches actually encourage birth control. A young couple going through marriage counseling at a typical fundie church will inevitably be asked which form they plan to use.

They represent about a hundredth of a percent of U.S. fundies.
I'm not defending fundies. Most fundamentalist Christians are right-wing fascists at heart. But other than orthodox Catholics and the fringe groups like the one in this link, they practice artificial birth control.

19. They may *use* birth control |
|
but the don't *advocate* birth control.
Especially not for sexually active teens.
And since you shouldn't be having sex *outside of marriage* in the first place... well, you get the picture. Hypocrisy at its finest, AFAIAC.

7. I think you've got your information a bit mixed up |
|
'Fundies' aren't against birth control, they're against abortion.
The Roman Catholic church forbids the use of birth control, but they are not considered "Fundies."
The Roman Catholic church encourages some extraordinary means of fertility enhancement (not all) as giving birth is one of 7 sacraments (7 rites which according to Christ confer sanctifying grace).
The underlying philosophy is that only God can spark a life into being from the raw materials. Ergo most fertility methods are not in conflict with the church's teachings. But any man can end a life, and only God should.

9. I have seen some fundies against birth control |
|
It was at that sorry ass spiritfx website. It was saying something like birth control is just the same as abortion because the object of birth control is to stop an innocent child from being concieved or some jazz like that.
I'll dig up the link.

18. sister's of a friend of mine |

is a fundy... doesn't believe in birth control, to the extent that they won't spay or neuter their cats.
When cats have kittens, they kill the kittens. (I've "rescued" a few kittens from this family over the years)
extending the logic that it's NOT ok to spay/neuter cats, but it's ok to kill the kittens after they are born ---
then doesn't it follow that it's NOT ok to practice birth control, but it IS acceptable to kill the baby after it's born???

20. Take the McCaugheys, for instance. |
|
When Bobbi McCaughey was pregnant with her litter, they said they wouldn't do selective reduction because that would be "playing God." If some of the babies didn't survive after birth, that was God's will.
How did they end up pregnant with seven babies? INFERTILITY TREATMENTS. God made them infertile, but that wasn't okay with them so they used science to get around His will.
I don't know how they can reconcile that in their own minds, but then I don't understand much of what the fundies say or do.
