GOLFING?

Maybe bowling. I don't know, though. I just can't watch golfing.

1. I play golf and I rarely watch it.
All it makes me want to do is go play.

If Tiger is playing, he'll hold my interest for a while, or if it's one of the big events I'll watch, but yeah. Boring.

Oops! :D

Yeah, it makes me want to go outside and do something, too. Like fishing. Or boating. But not golf. :D

I thought I was going to heave. They were eating frenchfries and the grease was dripping down their chins.

DISGUSTING!

10. They've got the World Paint Drying Championships on ESPN2
but compared to golf on TV the boredom factor would be close.

Golf is a sport you need to see in person, like baseball.

36. Golf is a sport you need to PLAY in person
I have watched people golf in person exactly once. It was some sort of charity golf tournament that I was photographing. All I had to do was run around in a golf cart and make sure I got at least two shots of every player--a driving shot and a putting shot.

Fortunately for me, I was getting paid and I got a case of free beer.

14. I love to watch golf on television
To me, it is much more interesting than basketball or soccer or hockey.

Yep, golf is great, it makes me want to be out on the links. I often find I do my best putting practice while watching the game.

Bowling is also fun, but my father was tournament bowler and we traveled all over the country so that he could compete. He was honored to be named in the Bowlers Hall of Fame and upon his death, at his viewing, little fellows in blue blazers with the emblems on their jacket pocket stood respectfully on either side of his coffin.

20. I've never golfed...
and I'm only a recreational bowler...but I LOVE to bowl, and I love to watch a great bowler hit strikes on a lane near mine.

I was an athlete in high school. I can't stand to watch a sport, because it makes me antsy and want to play. Ya know?

23. Oh, you need to try golfing.
In the fall and earlier spring, the game of golf is a wonderful way to spend the day. Right now, it is too damned hot, just sitting in the heat, even in a golf cart, is too much to do take during this time of year.

The Wiggin's golf course is my favorite local course. It is so beautiful there, the costs are minimal and the course has some quirky holes.

I haven't bowled in years, I once was in a league, only to be the handicap for the team. I don't have my father's skills, he was a two finger bowler that had one hell of spin. He had so many 300 games, I think he stopped counting them.

Antsy, why do you think I pick up my putter and practice when watching? :freak: I also will go out in the back yard and hit shag balls into the bay.

As boring as it seems, I'd still rather watch that, or golf and bowling for that matter, instead of so-called "reality TV (Anna Nicole ET AL.).

26. I agree!
I can't stand any of the survivor shows or any of the so called reality shows (except "Dancing with the Stars"--I enjoyed that.) Talk shows where everyone is arguing......and soaps? Forget it.

Golf isn't that dull, really, but you have to be able to appreciate it. You want a boring televised event? Try a ballroom dancing competition.

and talk about a waste of oil/petro products. We are fighting in Iraq for the oil, those race cars use thousands of dollars in petro for just one race. Talk about a waste of oil and time. :freak:

when to turn up the surround sound. I hear the roar of Nascar from the front room while I'm in here on DU.

Neither my husband nor I understand the other's obsessions, but it's okay.

31. My vote is for auto racing
Cars going round and round in circles.

Poker is a close second, I have to say. Especially celebrity poker. Oversaturation syndrome.

Around my neck of the woods there are a lot of fishing shows, hunting shows, and the like. I never watch them.

33. Great minds think alike. That was exactly what came to mind
When I saw your subject line. I know that there are people who are obsessed with golf, play it or watch it all the time. My mother has a relative who is on some pro tour and she mentions him to everyone who'll listen. As for me, I just don't get it. I like sports, but I need a little action to keep me interested. To me, watching golf is a little like watching paint dry.

34. Bowling on TV is infinitely more boring.
My grandpa used to watch that shit all the time. I miss him, but I damn sure don't miss the televised bowling.

I don't watch golf either, but that's mostly because watching John Daly on TV freaks me out. It's like looking at myself on camera and I always hated that shit.
