Is it too much to ask that people NOT be assholes around their kids...
...especially the youngin's under 5?

I was at a flea market in New Jersey and this trash had a cigerette dangling from her mouth while holding what looked to be her 2-year old child and cursing up a storm at one of the stand owners in such a manner that even a drunken old sailor would have blushed.

These are our children. If you smoke, don't do it right in the kids face and don't act like some asshole in front of them. I felt bad for the kid, I just wanted to grab the kid away from her and tell that woman to grow up and act like a decent human being!

3. How do you expect assholes to breed new assholes if they don't
teach them how to be assholes?

4. The mother couldn't have been older than 21...
...she'll be popping out plenty of future assholes. But seriously, shouldn't we give these kids a fighting chance? They can decide when they turn 18 if they want to be an asshole or just a regular human being

8. Gotta say, dude
I had my daughter at 22, and I'm a damn good mom, if I do say so myself. :)

But, I definitely agree with you. I see the way people act in front of/ treat their OWN KIDS, and it just blows my mind. Scary.

10. You are.
I had my first at 20. She's 13, an honor student, musician, athlete, and overall wonderful person. People shouldn't stereotype young moms. There are plenty of good ones. The next time I see some pregnant woman in her mid-30's smoking, I should say her bad judgment is due to her age? People are people. Smart people are smart people (at any age) and as always Lynz, you're much more polite than my old, pissy self. :D

11. I'm not stereotyping young moms - my mom was 22
and 19 with my brother.

It's just the concept that this gal was young enough that she will probably be popping a bunch more out just like her.

17. Maybe you don't.
My post wasn't so much about you in particular. It's just that those of us who were young moms see it a lot. It hurts sometimes. Especially to those of us who have done everything to be good and responsible parents. :(

I have a hard time with bad parenting myself as well. Period.

9. Unfortunately, it's probably how she was brought up
And her parents and their parents.

We pour money into prisons but we can't seem to finance any programs that will help stop the cycle of poverty, drug use, poor parenting and violence. A good pre-natal parenting class probably would have helped this person a great deal. We act as we've been taught - if no one teaches us differently, we simply repeat the cycle.

12. They are not chldren anymore they are little adults....
That's the way society pegs em,

Little walking buying, wisecrankin, gum chompin, tantrum throwin little adults.....

The end result of rampant consumerism....

Let me tell you...

I live in perhaps one of the wealthiest suburbs in all of Ohio, I know that's not saying much, but the kids and parents out here act just the same....

14. OMG LynnSin listen to this
the other day a coworker had his little girl at work - there was a bit of a snafu and his wife was gonna be picking up their daughter shortly. I talked to her.....cute, smart little thing. She said to me, "I have the training wheels off my bike." So I replied, "And you're only FIVE? WOW! That's great!" THAT'S when her dad piped up with this: "I HAD *MY* TRAINING WHEELS OFF WHEN I WAS FOUR!"

OMG what a moron. :o

19. Poor kids
I love the pregnant woman I saw with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. Oh, that's only too healthy.

I love the parents who abuse and berate one another, f-ing this and f-ing that while pushing the baby carriage.

I see too much, it's so sad. :(

20. Good grief!
A few years back, I was Mrs Claus at one of the malls here in town, and my job was to entertain the kids in line...there was a small lull in the line, where 2 kids crossed through (my guess is they were about 8 and 5/6)...the parent behind the open spot, who had a toddler, starting screaming "don't you know how to fuckin' say excuse me?!?" to the two youngsters.

I'm sure all the other parents (and kids) around appreciated that. A classy suit doesn't mean you actually have class, buddy. :eyes:
