9/11 Quote from Bill Maher's HBO show "I'm Swiss"

"Flying planes into the side of buildings was a faith based initiative." Lots of good lines in a tour de force performance.

3. Still don't know for sure what Maher believes beyond legalizing pot.
He was playing to a very liberal audience in Portland Oregon for that show. So he was very anti-Bush. But over the years on his own show he has taken a lot of very stupid and entirely untenable positions politically, mixed in with some liberal joking, so his messages have always been mixed when not self-contractory.

Still, his "I'm Swiss" was his best overall performance to date. Some excellent one-liners.

4. I was ROTFLMAO last night. You're
spot on, Seabiscuit, he's taken some stances that stink (like trying to appeal to conservatives, even though I don't think his heart was in it) so, to me, it was refreshing to hear him wail.:)

6. He's an unapologetic Libertarian, not a liberal.

He makes no bones about it. So, we don't always agree with everything he says, and we don't always laugh. He's still the best political satirist we've got doing the stand-up thing.

No knock on Jon Stewart intended. :)

PS: I love that he's so bloody open about his pot use.

7. I think that basically Bill Maher doesn't "suffer fools gladly", as they
say. And it doesn't matter what side of the political fence the fools are on.

5. Best line: "I am mostly pissed off that not enough people are pissed off."
Funniest Line: "Ask your doctor if Jack Daniels is right for you."

9. Agreed. Two of his best lines, for sure.
And I guess that's what pisses me off most too - that there are so many sheeple out there that aren't pissed off.

8. I missed the earlier performance
so I had to catch it on HBO west and stay up until 2:30...I'm not sorry I did, I don't think I've laughed that hard in quite a while.
