26. That would get you, at most, two windows |
|
If I had $250 to spend on your house? Change all the weatherstripping first. Then buy some of the 3M Filtrete filters that come in purple wrappers, they're really good. Change your range hood filter too.
Now count your money, and if you have any left go ahead and put more insulation in your attic.

5. plumbing/electric work |
|
I'd check and make sure all were up to code. Fix any faulty plumbing/wiring first, because you're saving yourself a lot of headaches later one. If everything is fine, I'd do some plumbing enhancements like new faucets-they would fit into your $250 budget and greatly enhance the look and value of your home.

6. Insurance, security or investment. |
|
I've never felt the need to spend money immediately. A security system is a good thing to have assuming everything else is working relatively well. Tuck something away for a rainy day, or add a level of coverage on your insurance policy.

19. I need to redo my front sidewalk |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 03:43 PM by Viking12
Water pools and drains through the cracks into my basement during heavy rainfalls. I had an estimate for >$400, but $250 would be a nice start.
On edit: I re-shingled the roof on my garage for ~$250 earlier this summer.

You could get a lot of CF lights, crack filler and weatherstripping for $250. Oh, and a water heater blanket if you aren't using one. baby trees for the sunny side of the house.
That sort of thing.
