What's something romantic you *wish* someone would do for you? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 11:19 PM by tjdee
This is kind of a copycat...but seems to me that sometimes you wish someone would just friggin....make the coffee sometimes, or show up at the job with flowers....and they just never do because they're dense asshats! Okay. Maybe that's just me.
But what about you folks? What do you wish someone would do, that would make you fall for them all over again or for the first time? Pick wildflowers? Clip your nails? Sing a song to you in Hindi in a cheesy see through shirt his stylist probably got from International Male Catalog (again, just me)?
Do guys even want romantic things to happen to them ("Food, Sex, and Silence" LOL!!)?

behavior from men, when the great lot of us are just not predisposed to acting like that (also due to media conditioning).
Expecting some hot dude to just walk into your office bearing flowers is about as unrealistic as us guys expecting all our sex partners to act like porn stars.
That said, my wife has complained on many occasion about just this sort of thing that you describe; after a few years, I've learned that it's in my best interest to randomly buy some flowers or chocolate once in a while.

5. Well, Shah Rukh says... |
|
:loveya: that after so many years of marriage (to someone who is not me, blech) that romance is basically walking past each other in the hallway, and that they don't need the kind of "I LOVE YOU ALREADY, OKAY!!" things that people may like/enjoy at first.
I think it's less about 'romantic things' than romantic *feelings*, as in a feeling of appreciation/love/sexual attraction from a person.

14. Yeah...I pretty much said that in my post. |
|
In the parenthetical section.
But I do believe that things like soap operas and pop songs can do strange things to people when they're very young, just as playing "army" and buying boys fetishized toy versions of adult guns does weird shit to malleable young boy brains.
I think it'd do the world a hell of a lot of good if both sides learned to deal with "love" and procreation with a good-sized dollop of realism and logic, rather than fantasy.

All the icing stuff is great, but the real meat in sustaining long term stuff (I think anyway) is the ability of both people to just be able to talk and be open overall- to just be human with each other and all that that entails (besides sex, romance, and the fun stuff, there's kids, jobs, car repairs, relatives, etc.). That's the human factor relationships deal with a lot more. :)

16. I don't expect this behavior from any man. ;-) |
|
Nor do I expect it as an entitlement of my marriage. It comes to me at random because we are both romantics.
My best friend, male, is a HOPELESS romantic. He keeps doing the sweetest things for his love and they fall on deaf ears. It's very sad. :(

about me. I had a boyfriend once who would write a nice ballad about all his ex girlfriends and I have always wondered if he wrote one about me.
Being a musician who hangs with mostly musicians I just think that would be so cool.

I have gotten all of the things people above me wanted (except the hair washing thing, but he would). And he likes it. He better stick with me too because he has totally raised the curve here for other men to live up to. I don't know if anyone can.
If anyone wonders why I get so ga-ga and stupid? This is why. :D

13. From an old love or a new love? |
|
After scanning these posts, I am a bit verklempt. I am trying to strike up a romance with an old friend. I've already written her a song (as yet unsung), sent her an e-mail, left a voice mail, had a CD of her favorite artist waiting in her mailbox when she returned from vacation (with a nice note). It hasn't even gotten me a hand-hold in return. Maybe that's why we don't do these things - alot of times they go unappreciated.

I am really a better-than-average catch for someone in our age group (I'm 48). Alas, the woman in question is way, way, WAY better than average in all categories, so perhaps it's not to be.

i forgive her. i don't have any need for the hatred. all it does is eat away at your soul and bring you down a notch.
that's one thing i learned the hard way: live every moment, every second of your life, as if it were the last one you'll ever have. life has a funny way of playing tricks on you, and those things that seem etched in stone may crumble away the next day.
