The X-Files was an amazingly well-done show - holy shit! |
|
How I loved it, and now my local station is finally showing reruns of it.
I'm watching the episode with the autistic guy working in the bowling alley who sees apparitions of people as they are dying.
I have goosebumps on four occasions so far this episode. And I pretty much NEVER get goosebumps from anything, except a slight chilly breeze or the finger of my loveydovey running up my thigh.
Some of the most incredibly intelligent and creative and thoughtful writing ever on TV was done on the X-Files.
Pure fucking genius.

I was such a fan when it was on, but when Duchovny left, I quit watching.
I have recently re-discovered the show and it is just so fucking good. The chemistry from the actors is fabulous and the writing is just wonderful.

5. Duchovny left before it ended? |
|
I didn't know that.
During the the time it was on TV, I only had a TV for a bit more than a year, I think that was seasons 2 and 3, so I really have very little experience with it.
I'm tempted to buy the whole DVD set...

I love the show. I used to be able to recite timelines and points of the mythology, but I am sure it is a bit rusty.

2. I warmed to it just recently too |
|
I never watched it when it was on air. But, catching reruns has made me a fan. Very well done.

4. It was okay, but some of the eps were amazing. |
|
I never really got into it, but the one "Halloween" episode at the carnival freak show was just brilliant.

6. Too bad the intro is SO lame... |
|
The title intro thing looked like it was produced on a Commodore 64 or something, and they never bothered to upgrade it. And I always thought the whistling was pathetic, too. Turned me off the show entirely. Actually, went to see the movie, which got me interested in the series, and I was sorry I'd let the intro scare me off all those years!

|
for the show.
I love the crappy typewriter font they use, and the music is fantastic.

It was one of those shows that my entire family used to schedule into the evening to watch. We recorded them if someone had to miss and then we would all watch it all over again.
Loved it second only to American Gothic that lasted, oh, 6 episodes maybe?

11. I got into the show the season before the movie |
|
season 5 I believe and was hooked imediately. I stuck with the show during the T-1000 years and saw most of the older episodes in syndication.
I had been slowly picking up the DVD box sets until Best Buy had a nice big sale and then I went crazy and bought seasons 3 through 6. I then watched many of these episodes and am constantly amazed by how good this show was.

And it drives me crazy that the season DVD sets go for $100 a piece. Thankfully Best Buy had that sale a while back so I could afford a couple of sets.
And I did forget how great the X-files is.

14. I was a huge fan of it until |
|
Duchovny left and Robert Patrick was brought in. It Jumped the shark SO hard at that point it was disgraceful! The first 5 seasons were some of the finest moments in TV.
My favorite episodes were Anasazi, One Breath, Home, Beyond The Sea, Clive Bruckman's Final Repose, & Jose Chung's From Outer Space.
