A fellow DU'er posted the info yesterday, and I copied the info down. I didn't save the post so I can't refer you to it.

I can tell you that you have to use a free picture hosting site like http://photobucket.com. That is what they suggested and what I did.
Once you have registered with them, you can submit your pics from your computer to photobucket. When you have done that successfully, you can go to post at DU.
The instructions they gave were to right click on the pic at photobucket and select "copy link location." However, I did not get that option, so I just copied the URL that photobucket assigned to my pic and pasted it into the message window in DU and it worked.
I am sure that I am not the best person to instruct you--I know there are a lot of more experienced DU'ers out there that know much more than I about this, after all, this is my first successful picture post.

13. you upload a picture from your hard drive

to photobucket, imageshack or somewhere like it.. Then you right click and copy the url..paste it here and it shows up.. the pics must end in gif or jpg to show up:)
