So, is there anything to do in Casper Wyoming?
I may have to travel there in a couple weeks. Should I bring along the Progressoid family?

1. Yuck, Dick Cheney's stomping grounds
Hope you like oil refineries, that is all there is there. Go down to the Medicine Bow Range, it's near there and relly pretty, off the beaten path.

4. Gaaaa! I forgot about Dick.
I haven't been there for about 20 years and I can't remember much about it.

I wonder if I should just do my job and get out or give the kids a mini vacation. I suppose we could drive another few hours to the west side of the state too but time is short so.....?

8. I'd get in, do the job and run like hell!
Save that quality time with the family for something besides watching coal trucks and Haliburton signs.

28. not in my book. But then I'm not really a
masochist. It's hard to play games, have good conversation while dodging the big trucks that own the highways and the scenery isn't that beautiful.

But whatever you choose, I am sure it will be the right decision for you and your family. Good luck with it all.
:)

13. There last weekend.
Actually, there's only one oil refinery left in Casper these days.

And we visited a new museum that is all about the trails that went through Casper before the advent of the railroad. The Oregon Trail, the Mormon Trail, the California Trail ... it was surprisingly interesting and well presented.

That museum is on the north side of the "city", next to their events center.

Other than that ... no, there is not much to do in Casper. Or you can bring along some rotten eggs and throw them at the 'Richard Cheney Federal Center'.

6. Hmmm, a monument to white man's hubris......kinda like the Bush years.
Didn't they recently add a Native American exhibit? we could do that.

14. I live in Utah -- a state over -- and it's shit.
And I mean it's almost like someone took a shit and out came Wyoming.

The only good thing about it is that they've got great porn stores.

Do you like porn?

11. I went through Wyoming on my way north in May stopped in Casper
not much to do as far as I could tell. Just a place to stop -- even the rush hour was nothing compared to major cities.

15. I have some old HS classmates living there
last I heard, but that was about 20 years ago and they have probably divorced and moved on etc. They were a year behind me, so I cannot keep up through reunions. Well, I can get my senior class because my sister was in that year and my sophomore and freshman classes because I have siblings in them, but no connection to the two junior classes.

16. I was there a couple of weeks ago!
Right in the middle of that brutal heat wave. There really isn't a lot to do there, except for the National Historic Trails Center, a new and really well done museum.

Best part is the covered wagon river crossing simulator.
