Equality of opportunity vs. equality of outcome |
|
A republican friend of mine once claimed that republicans are for equality of opportunity, wheras democrats are for equality of outcome.
I thought his analysis was overly simplistic, and not terribly accurate, but let's take it a step further, and see what y'all think:
To be primarily concerned with ensuring equality of opportunity is a libertarian outlook.
To be primarily concerned with ensuring equality of outcome is a communistic outlook.
In between the two is a continuum of increasing socialistic outlook.
Anybody care to expand on this?
