He was over at my ex-wife's place for awhile but I inherited him back.

6. He probably missed you. We have a "new" cat, (for a year) who
pretty regularly hits both hubby and me and hisses at us. Went away this weekend and on Monday night he was all over us, purring, kissing, yada, yada. Guess he missed us.

3. It's seasonal
Plato is Mr. Standoffish, except for a couple of weeks in the spring and fall, when he's all over everybody. The rest of the time, he'll sit next to you, but if you touch him or even look at him, he'll leave. Weird.

4. My mother-in-law had a cat like that
He hated being picked up and he never, ever sat on a lap or even wanted to be petted. Then one day when I was sitting on the sofa, he stalked over to me and leaped up onto my lap (he was big, too, almost 20 pounds of black and white cat).

I didn't dare move. He laid on my lap for about 15 or 20 minutes - long enough for my legs to fall asleep - while we all stared in disbelief. Then he got up, jumped down and marched away. Never happened again.

It was one of the oddest things ever.

7. We have an older cat - 14 years also. Past few years, she
has become less and less apt to hide when we have company.

I have told Mrs. ZBDent that the cat is realizing that she's getting old and she's "making her peace with God" . . .
