I cut my hand once and this old lady put kerosene on it. It felt good, warm and soothing.
Why did she do that? Has anyone ever heard of this before?

but I wouldn't imagine it would be very healthy (petroleum distillates are carcinogenic).

A coworker told me not twenty minutes ago that she used to give her children two drops of kerosene on a spoonful of sugar in order to cure the croup.
I am aghast, I tell you. Aghast.
