I just got their CD from my library - I really like it. A lot of fun, very catchy, great lyrics, and Justine Frischmann's voice is really sexy.
Anybody else like this?

1. Haven't listened to Elastica in years... |
|
I remember liking them back around 1995 or so, though.

3. On a lark, I took that CD on a long trip. |
|
Getting drowsy on the first day of the trip, sweltering in the heat and driving into the sun, I popped that CD in, not because I expected to like it, but because it wasn't the same old thing I always listen to.
WOW!
Woke me right up. Kept me alert for the next 3 hours.
Great, fun stuff.

5. I liked their first CD |
|
Don't know if they did anything else, but yeah. That was a good album.

7. They apparently have another one |
|
I read up a little on them. Supposedly the group sank into a pit of heroin addictions and intra-band conflicts, plus various other personal problems. They changed lineups dramatically, remerged as a sextet in 2000 and released a poorly-received follow-up that dropped without a trace both in the UK and the US. Then they broke up shortly afterward.

11. The later album and ep's are pastiches of pastiches, unobjectionable, and |
|
quite listenable, but a disappointment for someone hoping for a return to the surprising, energizing, bashing perfection of the first disc (alas, those were different times).

10. Great resurrection of my favorite late 70s sounds, |
|
i.e. Stranglers, Wire, Fall, as done by three very attractive women and one very attractive man.
A favorite record and batch of singles, that first burst.
