I couldn't decide what the worst thing I was offered by my Chinese acquaintances was...I think I have to go with frog intestines. (Supposed to be good luck, but I'd rather stay unlucky.)

When I was in college, I went home with my then boyfriend to San Francisco for Thanksgiving one year. We went to China town to pick up supplies (his parents were Chinese immigrants). We were wandering around the shops and in one, I saw a dog in a cage with a price tag on him. I drew my breath in shock, and my boyfriend quickly assured me that the writing on the tag said, "Free to good home, cage $10". I didn't quite believe him until an hour or so later, when I saw someone walking him home on a leash...

He never let me live that one down!
