11. I used to love hotbar
before I found out it was spyware.. I loved it for letting you put skins on IE windows. (yeah yeah get firefox i know). Too bad there is no clean version of it.

14. You can just disable ActiveX controls in IE, if you don't want to switch.
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 05:50 PM by Spider Jerusalem
You'll have to turn 'em back on to use the Windows Update site, though.

17. It will at least stop sites from installing software...
without your permission. That particular bit of IE-related nastiness is due to exploitation of the ActiveX functionality. (Personally, I use Mozilla 1.7, which I prefer, look-and-feel-wise, to Firefox.)

20. Different things...
Mozilla 1.7 is part of an application suite that includes web browser, email client, IRC client, HTML editor, etc., and Firefox is a standalone browser based on the Mozilla 1.x browser (very stripped-down in comparison, and it requires installation of a lot of plugins to have the same "out of the box" functionality).

22. Here's a download link for you...
http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/

And once you've downlioaded, if you want to skin the browser, you should go here: http://themes.mozdev.org/ (the skin I use is Orbit Retro...very clean, grey, red & yellow...big improvement over the standard, IMO)

This is useful, too...banner-ad removal add-on: http://bannerblind.mozdev.org/

And THIS adds a home button to Mozilla (which it lacks by default): http://3rdhand.info/mozilla/home/
