I'm feeling stupid: Re the Kitchen Aid mixer HELP!

I'm having trouble getting the bowl dislodged from the base after using. The first time I used it I managed to get it off after much effort, but the second time, the damn thing just won't come off. Tell me, how do you get it off the stand after using? I know you guys would know.
