22. LOL. You sound like my husband. |

They haven't spoken in four years. Ever since she started sending hate mail about me to his employer email.
Me on the other hand, I have three wonderful brothers that I work with and enjoy a lot. I feel extremely lucky.

3. Not for me. We've been friends for years. |

There are five of us, and yes...I feel very fortunate. Before we moved, my husband and I hung out with my brother and his wife a lot. I spent a good deal of my time on vacation with my sister and her husband.

I lost my older brother too, to a car accident. Sure makes you understand that you don't have all the time in the world to show your family you care.

13. It was weird at first. |

Once my little brother started smoking pot he quit being an angry asshole, and we were able to start hanging out. Ended up hanging with the same crowd, and he was my defense when shit got rough at school. Now he's 18 and I'm 20 and we live across the country from eachother. Talk on the phone as often as we can- problem is... since we hung out in the same crowd- he still hangs out with my ex. Numerous times I've called my baby brother to have the call cut short because my ex was getting bored. :P Ex wouldn't have such a problem if it weren't for the fact that I'm in a good relationship with a better guy. ;)

I LOVE being friends with her. We have so much in common; I'm sure we would have been friends if we weren't sisters (provided we were lucky enough to meet). I hate living so far away from her!

My sister and I get that all the time. We are roommates which could be part of the problem. We get mail to Mr. and Mrs. Dynamite all the time. Even some invitations to distant relative's stuff is addressed that way. It has become a way to screen things though. If someone doesn't know we aren't married, we don't really care about talking to them or sending random presents.

We're not roomates, but we show up to all the same events, usually in one another's company. We have the same last name, and we relate like people who've known each other for a long time and can comfortably bicker or agree as the case may require.

make sure you aren't my sister. It is exactly the same way. We are the best of friends and can feel free to disagree over things and it won't get blown out of proportion. It is complete honesty, and it is wonderful to have it. We also have the art of silent conversation down, just like a married couple. Just one look, even the most poker faced look, I can read off her face in great detail.

my brother and I are dating yet we look so much alike I've had strangers who know him come up to me and ask if I'm related to him. When we have to tell people we're siblings their first reaction usually is, "I should've known you look just like each other."
We're great friends now but it took me moving out of the house before we started to spend any time together.

Growing up I was very close to my older sister, yet distant form my younger sister. Recently, my younger sister got married and turned 30. Her wedding and birthday party gave us lots of time together. We now live on the same coast again and we have become closer over the past 3 years. Now she is one of my friends and I love spending time with her. My older sister and I have drifted further and further apart. We hardly speak.

I feel bad for people who don't get along with their siblings...that's gotta suck! :-(

My brother was my closest friend. He passed away four weeks ago today at the age of 42, and I am still not sure how to go on. His friends were my friends and visa versa. People used to think it was strange that we were so close. We also have an older sister, and we are close too, but so different. She tells people that we were raised by the same mother, but learned different things. The important thing to remember is to always say what you want, don't wait for the right moment, because it may never come.

I'm not as close with them as I used to be because I live far away now. But one sister and I lived together for several years - she moved in with my husband and I and our two kids when she was pregnant with her son - she'd left her boyfriend and had no place to go. Which was kinda neat because we'd never really been that close before since she's six years older than I am.
But it worked so well that she didn't leave until her son was three! It was pretty cool. I miss her.
It's also pretty neat when your kids become your friends. My daughters are 25 and 23 and we are great friends. It's wonderful.

Sorry but my sister's are my best friends and I see them often. I couldnt imagine life withoiut them.
No offense to anyone but I do think it is an Anglo thing not to be friends with your family. If you dont like them, it's one thing but if you have a decent relationship, then what's the problem?
My husband (Anglo guy) is on very good terms with his brother, they live 10 minutes from us, yet we see them like 3 times a year. And they talk on the phone like once a month.
Me (Latina girl) on the other hand, I saw my mom yesterday and I am seeing my sister tonight.
Of course, it's just my opinion.

36. agree! I feel sorry for people who aren't close with their siblings.. |
|
just the idea of how unhappy they must have been growing up together makes me sad.
My sisters and I are 5 & 7 years apart, so I am 12 almost 13 years older than my youngest sister. We are all three very close, even though we are not geographically close. Email and cellphones keep us together.
Now we bickered as kids, make no mistake, but as young adults we became friends and it just never stopped. Seriously, my two closest friends are most definitely my sisters.
My daughter is my friend too. I was my Mom's friend as were both my sisters. Until my mom started up with Alzheimer's our idea of a perfect time would have been to have me and my sisters and all of our daughters together for a chick's weekend somewhere.
We were also fortunate that our only 3 cousins grew up with us and we all went to the same high school. My cousins are definitely my friends as well.
My husband and his siblings (there are 5 altogether) get along well enough; three of them run the family business together, and all of us live in the same town, but we don't get together nearly often enough. Certainly not as often as my sisters and I would if we weren't thousands and hundreds of miles apart (Connecticut, Kentucky and Texas)
