First Chapter of "The Clone Wars" cartoon tonight at 8PM ET

The Clone Wars, 3 minutes at a time

For the diehards, the fans who pore over the "Star Wars" movies like they're the Zapruder film, this is a godsend.

An official George Lucas-sanctioned godsend.

For the rest of us, enthusiasm may be somewhat muted for Cartoon Network's "Star Wars: Clone Wars," set to debut at 6 tonight. The splashy microseries of 20 three-minute episodes helps bridge last year's "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones" and whatever Lucas has planned for "Episode III" in 2005, the sixth of his Jedi tales.

The first 10 blink-and-you'll-miss-them installments will run in order on weeknights through Nov. 20, with all 10 interspersed in sequence through Cartoon Network's evening schedule on Nov. 21. The second 10 episodes are scheduled for next spring.

I stopped being a die hard star wars fan between episode 1 and 2.


Damn Lucas sure messed up

2. I hated the first one

But the Lee/Yoda fight in the second one warmed up this chilly heart. That's more to my love of Lee than Lucas though.

Still, I'm slightly interested in seeing what this animated short looks like tonight. The Pacers start at 8 and that's the only alternative tonight for me. I can alway miss tip-off and check it out for the hell of it.

I know they're going to show them all on one night, so I'm not bothering with trying to watch it in bits and pieces.

It was so short I don't even think I really have an opinion on it.

8. A bit of an intro, some fight scenes, and then a tender, romantic

parting. That was really it. It's all one story in 10 parts, so it's like trying to get an opinion on a half-hour show from the first 3 minutes.
