All DVDs should have commentaries!!!
OK this is a lame topic for my first thread, but it's really been bothering me! Every older movie I like that comes out on DVD seems to be without commentary!

9 to 5, The Jerk, Vacation, several others. And these people are still alive! Why can't they take two hours and record a commentary?
How hard is it to sit and watch the movie and talk about it?

Now everyone in Gone With the Wind is dead, but even that one has a commentary by some old guy who knew someone who knew someone who did the costumes.

Geez.

1. I agree...
But, it might be difficult to come up with something
relevant to talk about.

2. My fave commentary track is from AVP
Alien v. Preditor

The cast and crew are drinking wine thru the whole thing. By half way thru, Lance Hendriksen is drunk!!! Hilarious!!!

3. Some commentaries aren't too good. Mel Brooks shut up completely...
1/2 way through Blazing Saddles.

4. I'm sure some will eventually come out with commentaries
Like The Jerk and some other newer older ones.

But I believe you - ALL movies should come with commentaries.

I love the Citizen Kane one with commentary by Roger Ebert, and another track by someone else I can't remember. The Ebert one is great! I'd love to see all movies (or at least, the really good ones) come with a commentary from an informed critic.

I love how they've done The Simpsons DVDs - EVERY episode gets a commentary track, some two.

I'm really PISSED at EVERY Star Trek TV series DVDs - not a single commentary on any of them, except some of the TOS ones have Michael Okuda text commentary.

And the Star Wars IV-VI DVDs piss me off, because they only have Carrie Fisher (of the actors) on the commentary. What the fucking fuck?!?!?!

5. Harold and Maude
I was really disappointed with the lack of commentary on that one - it's a cult classic, for petesake! They should have given the fans a little something.

6. Not everyone from GWTW is dead
Olivia Dehavilland isn't, and the actresses who played Careen nd Sue Ellen (Alicia Rhett?) are still alive... they are all in decent health.
