I'm one step closer to being a daddy! |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 03:16 PM by Shredr
When I lost my job earlier this summmer (thanks W!) and my partner and I had to start living off the "Baby money" we'd saved, I thought I'd never be a father.
N ow I have a new job and my cousin just offerred to be our surrogate (a savings of at least $30,000!) so now we're back on track.
We just have to save up the OTHER $30,000 for donor egg, IVF, etc...

5. Congratulations! That's great news! Could your cousin also |
|
be your donor, or do you want to go the anonymous route?
Hang in there, and take your vitamins to keep those swimmers healthy!

7. Unless I'm misunderstanding, if his cousin donated the egg... |

wouldn't that be cousins having a child together? Wouldn't that be a problem in reference to possible genetic problems? (I'm assuming that they're first cousins, which might not be the case.)

9. Yes, it would be as if he and his cousin had a child together, |
|
increasing risks of genetic defects.

Although she can carry the baby when I use a donor egg, which is our plan.
Originally we were going to have to pay an additional 30 grand for the surrogate mother. My cousin's generous offer is allowing us to save all that money.

14. And I am sure you will feel more secure if it's your cousin and |
|
not someone you don't know.

Because we're firsts cousins (and I want to use my sperm), I need to get a donor egg. My cousin can carry the baby, but it's best not to mix out genes.

It's a long, emotional road. But I've always wanted to be a father, so we'll get there.
