Guess who wants to see TREK scrapped? (not me!!) |
|
From an e-mail I just got:
>Source: World Entertainment News Network > >STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION star LeVAR BURTON has begged TV bosses >never >to make another new Star Trek show and allow the sci-fi series to rest >in >piece. > >The actor - who played LIEUTENANT COMMANDER GEORDI LA FORGE on both the >big >and small screens from 1987 until his final appearance in 2002 movie >STAR >TREK: NEMESIS - hopes the last series of STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, from >2001, >will be the very last. > >And (LeVar) Burton is threatening to get nasty if executives ignore his pleas. > >He says, "Star Trek coming to an end is long overdue. > >"They ran it into the ground and made so much Star Trek that it ceased >to be >special. If they bring this back before a decade is out I will get a >high-powered weapon and start picking off studio executives." >(IG/WNTEX/GES) > > >(c) 2004 World Entertainment News Network

1. I am a big Star Trek fan and I tend to agree with him. |
|
They don't do the topical issues in a different setting (so we can see them from a different angle) anymore. They are not even clever. Just space adventures. And they did time travel to death.

4. He's mad because of the increased competition... |
|
...for the autograph tables at the geek sci-fi conventions. That's how a lot of these former Star Trek actors make a living nowadays.

I've been a fan of Star Trek for as long as I can remember, but he's right. It's just been done way too much. They should take a break for several years before trying to do more with it. I don't know about the high powered weapons, though.

10. Who cares about Geordi?? |
|
He was such a wuss with women; the only way he could get laid was on the holodeck. Wesley Crusher was a stud compared to him...
