I got a cobra-snake for a necktie |
|
I walk 47 miles of barbed wire, I got a cobra-snake for a necktie, I got a brand new house on the roadside, Made from rattlesnake hide, I got a brand new chimney made on top, Made out of a human skull, Now come on take a walk with me, and tell me, who do you love?
Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love?
Tombstone hand and a graveyard mind, Just 22 and I don’t mind dying.
Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love? Who do you love?
(BO DIDDLEY VERSION, NOT George Thorogood!)

1. Same lyrics either way |
|
By the way, what's so bad about Gorgeous George Thorogood? He is lavish in his praise of the masters of the Blues at whose feet he learned. The boy sure can play, too.

2. One of the best damn songs in rock'n'roll |
|
By one of the best damn artists in rock'n'roll.
If you get a chance to see him live do it.
Living history.
I still get a kick out of the fact that he's only a few months younger than my dad.

3. I used to see him live quite often |
|
Before he had his hits, he used to play in a couple of venues near where I live; he still does play in a couple of them from time to time.
With time, he has only gotten better.

The "country" music kids are getting seriously into something called "hick-hop." You got your Big And Rich, your Cowboy Troy (who is said to have coined the term, but I'm here to tell you that ain't so) and now a group called Hot Apple Pie, whose song, "Hillbillies," is built around that irresistible Bo Diddley Beat. The tune is simply burning up the phone lines at Arkansas's largest and most influential radio station (which shall remain nameless).
The beautiful thing about this new movement is that the kids will hear some echoes of where Popular Music came from, (and won't give shit one if it's "real country" or not) while the Old Men's heads explode. I hope Bo Diddley gets even HALF the royalties that are coming to him!
The men don't know, But the little girls understand.
