is there a proper ( as in right or left ) ear for a straight man to have pierced. (I thought I heard years ago that gay men pierce a certain ear) I hope I'm making sense.
This is a serious question. I would like to know.
thank you in advance.

1. I'm no expert, as I'm female and straight |
|
But I always heard if a guy pierced his left ear, he was straight; if it was the right ear, he was gay. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!

2. It's supposedly the right ear |
|
I noted however that Travolta's piercing in Pulp Fiction was in his right ear...but nowadays honestly I doubt people even care or even notice. Besides most guys wanting to take a little walk on the wild side generally end up just piercing both ears anyway.

Large CBR (captive bead rings)
Nobody has ever said anything about them.
The old left ear right ear debate is dumb. Get them both done. If you're worried about what people think you shouldn't pierce your ear/s

Some parts of the country it's "right ear STR8", some parts it's the left ear. And around here, Gays pierce BOTH ears...
Off hand, I'd say that if you have to worry about piercing the "right" lobe, maybe you should re-consider whether to get it done at all.
Oh, watch that red hanky in the right pocket, too.

12. Not issues of Gay v. Str8... |
|
just issues of what our popular culture calls "Manliness".
I'm just referencing what I was told many years ago, i.e.: "If you aint got the balls to stand up to some asshole who thinks you pierced the wrong ear, then mebbe you shouldn't get it pierced in the FIRST place..."
Your mileage may vary, and if it don't apply, let it fly, and my apologies.

"Oh, watch that red hanky in the right pocket, too."
The aggresively straight teenage boys in my neighbourhood have taken to wearing bandannas in their pocket and for a girl who came of age in the west village I am holding back the impulse to tell them exactly what they are "asking for"

13. i've had both ears pierced since the 80s |
|
in fact, my left ear is pierced twice-- no reason, just ended up that way i guess.
back in the day, i heard that it also depended on what country you were in-- in the US, straight guys pierced the left, while in the UK, they pierced the right. this supposedly led to reightious confusion among some people...
nowdays i don't think anybody really cares, or even knows. :D

I can't even recall which one indicated sexual orientation, it was so long ago & I dismissed it anyway. Nowadays I doubt anyone really adheres to any rules like this regarding piercings.
