What's a good place to download payable music at?
Instead of buying cd's all the time I want to find a good place to pay and download music at. I have Itunes and they seem pretty good, but I want a place like Napster where I can join monthly and all that. Does anybody here know of a good place? Does anybody here have membership with Napster?

1. I don't but I'm kicking this for the evening crew.
I know they will have more info and opinions. I've only used msn.

2. Rhapsody at listen.com. $24.95 quarterly, unlimited streaming, $0.79/burn
I like it a lot. Listen on both home & work computers. Saveable playlists, cafeteria-style or whole-album burning.

3. rockandmetal.com
If that's the kind of music you are looking for? Good alt. music site. And it's free. A lot of it is either live versions or promo stuff. And not every listed band has stuff on offer, but it's pretty cool. I've gotten some great stuff off there.

Khash.

5. I'm a Napsterite
I use them to load up my IRiver H10. They've got a great selection, and I haven't been disappointed, although some of the songs are inadvertently truncated - but that's rare.

Being old-fashioned, though, when I hear something I really love, I go out and buy the CD.

My membership is $14.95, because I have Napster-To-Go. If you just want the basic membership, it's $9.95, I think. And the album costs are really reasonable.

You can try Napster free for 7 days. See if you like it.

I hope this helps.

9. I'm thinking of Napster
When you try it for free for seven days can you transfer it to your ipod? Sometimes there are some acts where I don't care for the whole album. I'm thinking of joining back though Columbia House. Anybody a member of that here? I did that for a while a couple of years ago but lost intrest.

12. I believe you can
Check out the Napster site, and look specifically at "Napster-To-Go."

6. I hope you realize...
that from sites like Napster with a monthly subscription rate and "unlimited" downloads, you're not actually buying that music, in effect, you're only renting it. So if you cancel your subscription or say, Napster goes out of business (which it definitely will be soon) you're f*cked.

Not a sound investment.

Not to mention, if you have an iPod (which is the only MP3 player worth your hard earned money), those other services aren't compatible with the iPod.

Stick with iTunes. :hi:

13. try this one:
http://www.allofmp3.com

Russian site (in Russian and English); extensive catalogue, ability to select the quality of downloaded audio (from 128-320kbps mp3), and you only pay US $0.02 per megabyte downloaded (so a single 128k mp3 would probably be $0.15 or so, or less).
