Has anyone else seen the film "Birth"? |
|
With Nicole Kidman and Lauren Bacall?
Basically, it's about a woman who's husband dies...and a little boy shows up years later...claiming to be her dead husband, reincarnated.
What a weird little film. Not sure if I liked it or not.

1. I want to see it, even though I've heard it's one of the worst ever. |
|
Or rather, that it has the worst endings ever.

3. Sounds like a spooky rendition of "Return of Martin Guerre." |

It's well made...and well acted by all.
Just not sure if I liked it.
BTW: is all ok in Cleveland? I haven't heard that much from some mutual friends. I know there's problems....but I miss them.

5. It's a rather good film... |
|
...although very sad, really. Ann Heche gives an outstanding supporting performance. Although marketed as a creepy, thriller-type film, it's far more about the emotional struggle of Kidman's character (and God knows that Hollywood has not developed a successful marketing formula for that type of film).
It's paced rather slowly, giving time for the characters to develop (I should also mention Danny Huston as Kidman's finace; his understated performance steals most of his scenes). This film wasn't on the top of my list of "must see's," but I'm glad I shelled out a few bucks to rent it.

7. Inspired by this thread, I watched it last night. |
|
I don't think it's the worst movie ever, but it WAS one of the strangest I've seen. And because of its strangeness, ack--some of the establishing shots and transitions just gave me a headache--I can't say I enjoy watching it.
