Ever done a search on another DUer's posts?
I just did. I'm not here all the time and I can't read everything. So I did this for the first time.... it was really cool (Ok, the first time I did it on someone I didn't know).

I was just wondering if you've done that and what your experience was? By learning more about them did you appreciate them more or less? Was it worthwhile or a waste of time?

Khash.

1. I've only done that once
I was suspicious of a newbie and I checked his/her posts out.

16. No. I'm not sure about you yet.
I mean I've only met you personally and tipped a few beers with you. I don't know if that's enough evidence. ;)

I can't remember the person's handle that I searched on, but I do remember that I thought he/she was cool and I replied to one of his/her posts.

7. How to fucking do a fucking search
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 10:55 PM by khashka
First go to the fucking top of the page and fucking hit fucking search. Type the fucker's name into the fucking Keyword field. Fuck around with the pull down menus.... and Bob's you're fucking uncle as Crazy Guggenheim would fucking say.

But Peggy, if you drop the F bomb all my illusions will be shattered. Surely you don't want to be responsible for that?

Khash.
(my mother would be so ashamed!)

10. ROFLMAO!
My dear Khash! I will NOT do that to you, or anyone else...unless I feel the situation warrants it...

And this one doesn't ...

And also, I do not want to be responsible for shattering ALL of your illusions...some of them, okay...but not ALL!

Such a sweetie...!

5. I do it on occasion
not so much to check on others and their views, but just to find something I've read before. For me it's easier to remember a posters name than the subject they've posted about.

13. I googled mine
got an import/export dude in Abu Dhabi. Which was ironic since I lived there. Got myself too, labeled XXX - don't know what it meant but it was a hoot.

I'll come clean, I did the search on you. You are an incredibly interesting person. I couldn't stop reading, I was fascinated.

Khash.

11. I do often
To find a topic I can't remember but can remember poster, to check on a person to see what else they have written recently either out of admiration or troll hunting. Sometimes it is worthwhile to find out that someone's comment was a 1 off and not a sign of trolldom and will just roll my eyes and pass, sometimes I find they need to go away and feel better about alerting.

12. It's way useful.
Quite apart from the checking newbie stuff.

This is a big board and you tend to run into new people all the time. Search by author is an easy way to see where someone posts, gives you some idea of who they are other than just bumbing into them occasionally. It makes them more rounded, more human.

17. yeah
We used to have a poster here who--everytime I read his posts--I would jump up and down in my chair and say, "Yeah!! That's right!" This guy was always on the money. He was very smart and I often wondered what kind of work he did, etc. We PM'd and e-mailed a lot but eventually he left DU.

I'd often did searches of his posts to make sure I didn't miss any of the good ones!
