I am shocked....he was my favorite anchor. He became my go to guy for big events-- he was there all day on 9/11, he was there in December of 2000....

He was the only news anchor who I trusted with the news . I remember watching ABC news all the time when I was a little kid even into my current twenties . He will be missed .

He had a silky smooth delivery, and was incredibly intelligent.
It seems like it happened so fast. I thought for sure he'd get chemo, or whatever, and recover, or at least live many more years.
This seems like it happened over the course of just a year. Seems like it happened so fast. I'm shocked.

7. that's really too bad...... |
|
makes me sad. I grew up listening to Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather. Now they are all gone from the networks, Peter in such a tragic way. I feel really sad right now.

This appeared as a rumor yesterday, and I was really pleading "SAY IT AIN'T SO"!
This is a terrible loss. I'd admired him since his days in London, and he was always the guy I turned to when the world experienced a crisis. He produced many specials over the years in which he tried very hard to educate Americans about the background of conflicts and current events.
Watching him nightly, I noticed -- probably 2 years ago, that he was showing disturbing symptoms -- trouble with his throat mainly -- and in the last year he was obviously having breathing difficulties. When he appeared on the Daily Show, he was obviously seriously ill. When he announced his illness, I understood that the prognosis was poor. He faced his illness like a man and fought hard.
I feel terrible.
RIP dear Peter. PS Your nickname was Peter Perfect.

12. I didn't even know he was sick |
|
Can't have been too old, either.
He was my favorite of the big three, at least back when I used to now and then check out the US network news. Never took to Brokaw, and Danny Boy was a tad too intense unless I was in the mood for some psychotic-tinged entertainment: Peter Jennings always seemed the most thoughtful, the most balanced (in a good way...this is another word that's had the meaning drummed out of it), and came across as the most introspectively intelligent. I instinctively trusted him -- not necessarily the facts, facts that we've seen become increasingly warped throughout US news media, but his own conviction that what he was saying had validity.
Rest in peace.

13. So you think that Dan Rather's broadcasts were psychotic-tinged? |
|
Psychotic-tinged entertainment?
Do tell.

Don't get me wrong: I loved it when that happened.
But it was a tad manic at times.
