1. I thought it was pretty lame for a finale |
|
I haven't always watched the show, but met with a group of my buddies to watch the final episode. It sucked.. not much else to say. What a disappointment.

3. Mr. Lavenderdiva and I were both disappointed in the finale... |
|
We've been watching the series since it began, and were expecting it to go out with a bang, not a bust. Mr. Lavenderdiva thinks the end disco scene was a dream sequence, that they weren't really dancing, because the club they used to go to wasn't there anymore. I, however, think they WERE really dancing, in some club somewhere. I was expecting a LOT more from this show, especially at the end.

5. It was simply zzzzzzzzzz |
|
Lindsey and Mel moved to Canada. Brian and Justin didn't get married because Justin got an offer to go to NYC. Ted dumped the crazy ass Tad and then hooked up with that former tweeker guy.
It was just DULL! There were too many loose ends for this show to wrap up in one hour.
It was not the way to end this show.

Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 01:13 PM by ronnykmarshall
While showing the last scene with Brian dancing ...... suddenly we cut to an alarm clock going off.
We see a hand shut it off. The camera shows Sharon Gless waking up. She shakes her head a little and grabs the phone and dials.
"Hey Mary Beth, it's Christine. You would not believe the crazy dream I had!"
Cue: "Cagney & Lacey" music

9. LOVED the series, HATED the finale! |
|
That was a finale? Wow...I find it hard to believe that they could produce such great plot lines and tension for, what, FIVE seasons and then give us THAT? It was like the writers, producers and directors could only force themselves to write bold, creative plots and dialogue so long, and then lost steam at the very end.
Too bad....a series this well done deserved a better ending. Cowan and his partner let their viewers down big time.
Oh well, on a brighter note, it looks like Weeds is going to be interesting.

10. I just sat there with this look of my face |
|
:wtf:
Here's what was soooooooo stupid:
1. Brian buying that big ass house for Justin:
What the hell is he going to do with? I guess with the ending, he sold it and re-opened the club.
2. Mel & Lindsey just pack up the ol' car and move to Canada!:
Uh, I don't think you can just DRIVE over to Canada and say .... "Hi there we're moving here, eh?" Think there's more to it than just rentin' the U-Haul.
3. The whole Brian and Justin thing. FIVE years they dicked us around and then Justin goes off to NYC. Shitty!
4. What about prop 14?
Yes, it would have been nice to have a storybook ending. I am so pissed about the way they ended it.

|
I did like Deb's line when they announced they weren't getting married: "How in the hell do you return a water buffalo?"
OH YEAH...the other lame, lame plot was when one of Emmett's old hometown high school schoolmates from BFE, Mississippi just happens to show up at a ski resort in the Pocono Mountains, and they presumably spend the weekend in Emmett's room?
Oy.

12. They had too many loose ends. |
|
I think the whole "Tad" thing was a waste of time.
There was so much going on that they tried to wrap up in an hour.
I'm glad I've been getting Showtime for free (new Direct TV thang), cuz I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to pay for this.
It's been a great show, but I think the writers fucked up. I'll miss this show a lot.

13. Am I the only one who hated QAF? |
|
I only ever saw half a dozen episodes, but what I saw was, IMO, an absurd collection of stereotypes about gay men--a sort of gay "Amos 'n' Andy". The main characters possessed all the flaws that all gay men are "supposed" to have: substance abuse, promiscuity, disease, mental instability, and vapid self-absorption. It also pissed me off how few female serious characters there were, and the *complete* lack of people of color on the show except in walk-on roles. Now I'm sure I missed plenty in the years it was on, but I hated it from the moments the credits rolled with that god-awful disco theme.

I really didn't care for it. My partner got into it, so I continued watching it because he did. Somewhere around the end of the second season I started to like the series. The characters did develop and become a little more multi-dimensional than just sex and bar hopping.

26. Well, that's good to know. |

Did they ever get any characters besides that group of skinny white guys? Being a gay man of somewhat larger size, that was another glaring omission--all the men had 'perfect' bodies.

27. I enjoyed watching the show, but Greekspeak would agree with YOU! |
|
He thought every character on the show was the typical gay man stereotype, he HATED the intro music also, and only watched it with me sometimes. I'm sorry the show is over. With everything on TV 99% about straights, I felt it a refreshing change. NOW what do we have? "Will & Grace?" I'm still not sure Will is really gay. He's more interested in Grace than any guy on the show.
I got rid of Showtime before seeing the last two episodes without thinking about it, and have been kicking myself ever since.

|
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 01:29 PM by Terran
Although I don't really count what Showtime (and HBO) does as being on TV, since a small minority of the population see those shows. I can excuse Will and Grace because it's a sit-com and doesn't deal realistically with much of anything, much less being gay. But I never found QAF to be any more realistic than Will and Grace because of all the stock characters and situations. It's kind of interesting that the show was like that to me (vapid and stereotyped), but most uneducated straight people watching would assume that's how we really are, and have many of their worst fears confirmed.
Yep, I still get excited at anything gay on the tube. There was a lingering man-to-man kiss on Stargate Atlantis this past weekend, and I was all like OH MY GOD!!
On edit: you know, the best place to see a lot of gay people on TV these days? Home and Garden TV. They work unabashedly with same-sex couples these days--it's amazing.

|
that have now ended. I wonder if I'll ever be able to go back and watch what I have missed.
From what I have read about the end of Queer As Folk and the third to last episode of Six Feet Under, they really made the endings depressing and anti-climatic. Looks like they could have ended with Brian and Justin getting together and sweet little Emmett finally getting his true love. Something. I didn't even see it and I think it sucked just from what I have heard.

But I saw the spoiler that was leaked a couple of weeks ago. Queer as Folk was always a guilty pleasure sort of gay soap opera to me, so I never really took it seriously enough to be disappointed.
Okay, I'll admit it, I was just in it for the sexxin'. :spank:
