A CubsFan1982 / Peter Jennings story.
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 02:46 AM by CubsFan1982
When I was not quite 2 years old, my mom was looking for me around the house. She looked ALL OVER, and couldn't find me. I wasn't in my room, I wasn't in the crib, I wasn't in the bathroom or the kitchen or the backyard. Finally, she came into the living room. She found me, sitting on the couch, in absolutely rapt attention, watching Peter Jennings deliver the news. Quite literally, I had watched him from his first broadcast to his last. He was quite like a part of the family after so many years, and his death from cancer has brought back a lot of emotions that I felt when my uncle died from cancer last year.

In that vein, it's almost a personal loss, as well as a greater loss in general. He'll be missed, terribly. There's not another one like him.

RIP, friend.

1. Thanks for sharing that, CF1982.
I'm sad about it, too, but that's my own selfishness because Mr. Jennings was a presence in my life for so many years. I'm glad he's not suffering now.

RIP, Mr. Jennings.

3. I just turned on the TV a minute ago and heard the sad news
Somehow I thought he would beat this, but alas I was wrong.

I am deeply saddened as well.

5. I was also very saddened by his death.
I watched him as a child b/c that is what my mother would be watching. I didn't realize actually how sick he was. He will be missed.
