I'm going to Isla Mujeres!

I just closed on a home equity loan, and found out that I was able to have no August or September house payment!!! So, I decided to indulge myself for my birthday and take a quick trip to Mexico.

I have been to Isla Mujeres once on a day trip, but it will my first time staying there. Anyone here been there before?

2. Are you familiar with the hotels there?

I am thinking about staying at either Posada del Mar or Playa de Media Luna.

Is the temple on the island or on the mainland? I have ordered a map that shows all the sights to see. http://www.cancunmap.com has great maps of Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Isla Mujeres.

8. I really liked the Hotel Avalon Reef

It's not as busy as Posada but very nice and reasonable. The Temple and lighthouse are at the opposite end of the island from the downtown district

3. Much more laid back than Cancun

Has more of a small town feel - definitely worth the stay.

Having said that, check out Cancun for a night if you're there with an SO. If anything for the dance clubs.

4. yes, and the

foamy vomit on the buses. Cancun is a nasty, nasty town at the wrong time of year (i.e., when teenagers flock there to vomit on the buses). Playa del Carmen is far superior. Akumal is even better.

5. True - however Cancun is fun without the teenagers

Go offseason (September is nice) and hit the clubs. Without teenagers, the clubs are fun and a great place for a 2nd honeymoon...

6. I have been to Cancun once....

and took a day trip to Isla. I enjoyed my trip to Cancun, but after visiting other places, I realized I liked them better than Cancun. I LOVE Cozumel. It's like the right mix of laid-back and partying. I have been there 5 times, and am going back in November. So, this time, I decided to check out Isla instead. I have had a high stress month, and the idea of relaxing in a beautiful setting is just the ticket!

Well best of luck on the SO search...lots of singles there, and you'll be able to find the ones with the chiseled abs pretty easily (being shitless is pretty common there )
