Man Forgets Wife At Gas Station, Remembers 6 Hours Later
seemed like an appropriate story for today :D :popcorn:

<snip>

ROME (Reuters) - A Macedonian man left his wife at an Italian service station and only realized he had driven off without her six hours later, news agency Ansa said Monday.

The couple, who were traveling with their 4-year-old daughter, pulled over for gas in the coastal city of Pesaro as they were heading back to their home to Germany.

After filling the tank, the husband drove away -- without noticing that his 30-year-old wife had got out of the car to go to the toilet.

The woman, who had no money or documents with her, contacted the police who eventually traced her husband to Milan, some 210 miles north of Pesaro, Ansa said.

The husband told police he hadn't missed his wife because she always sat in the back of the car with their daughter.

7. 1964-
on the way to my mother's college graduation, my grandfather left my grandmother at a gas station. It was the middle of the night, and grandmother was asleep in the back of the station wagon, covered with blankets. They stopped for gas, and, not wanting to wake her, my grandfather simply got out for coffee and filled the tank. While he was inside, she woke up and went to use the bathroom. He came back, saw the bundle of blankets in the back and drove off. Now this is the best part. They called ahead to the toll booth to let them know to look for him. He got to the booth, 45 miles away, still blissfully unaware,, which he did. Can you imagine his expression when the Toll Booth attendant called him by name and said, “so, seen your wife lately?”

They did make the commencement. When my mom crossed the stage, the President of the college took her aside and asked “so, did your mother make it?”
