Need a little advice and recommendations re running sneakers
I walk on a treadmill about 5 days a week and in the past week or so i've tried to incorporate some running, i try for 3 5 minute sprints, so should i buy running sneakers or are the ones for walking ok? Any brands you like would be great. Please and thank you.:)

1. if you have the time and money
go to a running shoe store and have them fit you for real running shoes. Better to try them on as everyones feet are different. I ran for Nike in school and their shoes fit me since I have fat feet, but yours may different so spend some time trying things on and walk around the store. You really need to spend time looking. You may not buy them there but get smart on them first.

3. I would get them anyway...
or at least some cross-trainers. They would work as well. And yes take your time and build up to it. haste makes waste or at least sore mussels! Spend more time stretching as well before and after.

4. Buy New Balance shoes at FootLocker
New Balance is like the only running shoe still manufactured domestically (no sweatshops) and Footlocker has a 100% Blue rating on buyblue.org

8. Saucony's used to be, they used to let people know they made
their shoes in the U.S. but then they became a publicly traded corporation in 1998 and suddenly they don't say anything about it. Hmmm.. coincidence? I think not.

6. even though you are only doing sprints you should get a
good running shoe. Go to a store that specializes in sports shoes. When you do sprints (as opposed to straight walking) you increase the stress on knees hips and back joints, and you need a shoe made to absorb more shock. I'm preferential to Nikes myself, but go to a specialty sports shoe store and GET FITTED RIGHT! Try on several brands and see what feels the best to you. Also I recommend getting a couple pairs of good quality sports socks. You'd be surprised what a difference they make in the fit of the shoe, and how your feet feel during a run. They can be pricey, but SO worth it.

7. you need running shoes
any brand you like, comfort and support are important. they do make specialties for sprinting, long distance, trail and road running, etc. but i would recommend a quality all purpose running shoe.( my one daughter was a cross country and track star in HS and college and i spent a small fortune on all kinds of running shoes).

9. New Balance, all the way
Best out there, and (along with Brooks) often prescribed by podiatrists.

If you know your size -- NB has multiple widths in everything -- Road Runner Sports (San Diego or online) is a good source. The only runing shoes I wear are New Balance, and it's been that way for many years now. Nike makes some decent stuff at the highest of their high end, but they're a great example of a company that primarily stresses form over function (and I do find much of their 'form' to be exceedingly ugly, trendy, putridity) and most of their shoes are overpriced junk. New Balance shoes are overpriced treasures.
