3. My husband hasn't forgotten ME
But when we were driving through Nebraska once, he did forget to take the gas nozzle out before driving off. Ripped the hose right out of the pump. Had to pay $30 for repairs. Believe me, I don't let him forget it!

6. But he wasn't even Italian...
:)

I'm thinking of Raul Julia's line from "Gumball Rally" here:
"The first rule of Italian driving. What's-a-behind me, does not-a-matter."

The husband told police he had not missed his wife because she always sat in the back of the car with their daughter.

So he never looked behind him, eh?

7. When Miz t. was a kid, she was left behind.
She was a "middle", one of 3 girls and 3 boys.
"A face in the crowd" as she describes it.
She was left in the restroom at a gas station during a family trip.
About 15 miles down the road somebody in the back seat said "Where's Sis?"
She will never get over it.

8. Guy forgot his daughter near here recently
Some guy from Washington was driving down to LA with his 14 year old daughter sleeping in the back seat. He pulled into a rest stop to take a whizz, and while he was gone the daughter woke up and went into a bathroom herself. Dad came out, hopped in the car, and took off down the freeway again. He was an hour down the freeway before he noticed she was missing!

9. Seems kind of odd that the kid didn't say anything...
Or are women and kids just expected to be silent unless spoken to in his culture?

10. On the CNN front page
What's next? Wife cooks dinner for kids! Husband goes grocery shopping! Meanwhile people are being blown to shreds in Iraq.

11. I did that once...
...While I was pumping gas, a woman at the next pump lost her gas cap, and had to climb under her car to retrieve it. I forgot about my wife for about 8 seconds.

Hey, it happens.

12. My mother forgot my father
Somewhere in Texas. About fifteen miles down the road, my sister asked tearfully why dad wasn't coming with us. Oooops. We still laugh about it.
