What are you listening to? |

I need to focus on the large pile of work which built up whilst I was away (hence my playing around on D.U.), and so am being utterly antisocial to my office-mates and playing music on my headphones.
I've got a C.D. with parts of L'Orgue Mystique by Charles Tournemire - specifically Choral alleluiatique No.2 17th Sunday after Pentecost at the moment - played on the organ of La Sainte Trinité in Paris.
This morning I was playing Seigfried by Wagner. I could really do with some Bach, he's probably the best to aid my concentration, the Art of Fugue would be most welcome.
I'm also in a good mood as I ordered some Widor and Langlais C.D. I suspect that my deep love of the 20th century French organ school is one reason why I could never become a freeper - boycotting France would just be impossible.

I actually turned the game, Diablo, on yesterday just to listen to the music when the character enters town. That music sounds like a sort of relaxing midi version of a person sitting around playing an acoustic guitar. I like that. I'll listen to soundtrack music and videogame music just for the fun of it.

Well deserving of musicological study.

It's usually music we hear over and over again without realizing it. I have personally heard some of the music I associate with the Christmas classic (for my family), Home Alone in other movies and finally recognized. Ever notice the mood enhancement of the music in a really good Stephen Spielberg masterpiece. It absolutely helps movies along and is very listenable at the same time.

The other day I turned on my 25 year old Yamaha receiver and it made a loud popping noise. The last noise it will ever make, I fear. I'm not much of a fan of playing music in the CD drive and have a ton of music on the hard drive butdon't even have a decent set of speakers hooked up to this box. Man, I got a thousand excuses.

I need to get me an M.P.3 player - but procrastination is so much fun.

I know that all of the radio stations are on-line, and have had envy from other DUers about easy access to Auntie.

9. I don't know how widespread it is |

I would guess most major markets carry some BBC programming. WUNC radio carries BBC and CBC programming, plus its own local shows.
On the radio we get the morning News Hour (I guess mid-afternoon your time) and a lot of overnight BBC programming as well. I sometimes wake up in time to listen to "Off the Shelf." It's kinda nice to lie there and be read to. :-)
ON WUNC TV, we get the half hour international news at 11pm.
