Husband and wife find out they are siblings
Phnom Penh - A Cambodian man's joy turned to dismay after he discovered that his long-lost mother, who had survived the bloody Khmer Rouge regime, is also the mother of his wife.

Tep Song, 35, and his wife Tep Ly, 38, had been removed from their village in the southern province of Svay Rieng and separated by Khmer Rouge troops in 1975 when they were five and eight, respectively.

The pair told aid workers they met again when Song was 17 and extremely ill in hospital in neighbouring Takeo province and Ly was assigned as his nurse. They fell in love and married soon afterwards, unaware that they had any more in common than having been born in the same province.

2. At this point
you just go with it. They've already had kids. They're happy together (one supposes). Splitting up would be kinda pointless.

11. I agree with you
Why make it worse. Too bad it made international headlines. You know the fundies are going to have to say something inhumane and damning. Poor guys.

3. War does suck indeed.
I'll wager there's more people like this in many past wars. So sad, I feel for that family.

9. LOL!
Except your mother would be your mother-in-law. That could be pure hell.

7. separated when they were 5 and 8
and don't remember or recognize each other? Didn't they discuss where and when they grew up? Sounds a little fishy to me.

10. It does seem kind of odd...
but maybe they suffered some PTSD. The Khmer Rouge were horrible.

13. We used to breed dogs that closely for their good qualities.
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 03:11 PM by Radio_Lady
I didn't see the article. Did they also have the same father?

Edited for: they are full siblings.

It is common in dogdom to breed father to daughter and mother to son. Also common to breed sister to brother.

Someone ought to check out the children, but they'd have to be willing to have them studied.
