My heart goes out to my cousin. She lost her second daughter in 3 years
I am stunned. On the august 6th my cousin Lisa lost her second and remaining child in a car accident.I can not even begin to know what it is to lose two children under the age of 18.My thoughts prayers and love are for her and Bob.
She barely survived the loss of her first child Laura Ann who died in 2002 in a freak boating accident in canada.Lisa became so overly protective on Barbie after that. The comfort I and others gave her was that the odds of something so horrible could happen again where too huge.
I now despise those words ever came out of my mouth.
God Rest Barbara Ann Boyles.
Thank you for letting me vent my pain and stunned shock.

5. That's unimaginable....
I actually have a friend who lost a brother in a rafting accident, and a sister in a car accident. But she still has two more brothers. I cannot imagine losing two children, all of your children, that way.

6. I don't even know what to say. That's a pain that unless you experienced
it, you can't really know what it's like. But to have it happen twice. There really are no words that I can think of that could console a parent in those circumstances.

10. Thanks
I really feel so horrid of the platitudes I have told Lisa over the past years.I feel anything I say is never enough.Words just choke in my throat.I want to be there for her but there isnt anything I can do to lessen her burden. How can fate be so cruel to such an innately good person?

16. I cannot imagine the pain this woman must
be going through. When you have children, you live for them. I am sure she feels there is no purpose to live anymore. I hope she makes it through this horrible tragedy. My prayers are with you and your family.

18. When our first grandson died two years ago...
my daughter-in-law comforted herself with the happy memories of his five months on earth. He lived as full a life as anyone his age could have...maybe fuller than many.

He'd been to the zoo. He'd had playmates. He'd been to a baseball game, and put his feet into a wading pool. He'd tried several kinds of food and enjoyed being read and sung to.

There were also, of course, many things he did not live long enough to experience or understand...hatred, cruelty, indifference to suffering, heartbreak, or the loss of a child. The last is one we are most grateful for his never knowing.

I'm so sorry for your family's loss, Rhino47...

I'm sorry for your loss, too...

...and the loss that parents, grandparents, children, and siblings suffer every day that we continue fighting in Iraq.

Hugs to you, my friend.

As a vet I feel each loss as the loss of a Brother or Sister.

20. I have no words for that
I have one child. She was hit by a truck this winter, and fortunately only suffered broken ribs. A inch either way and she might not have lived. So I know in theory part of what she is going through. I hope never to know the reality.

29. I don't mean to be weird
but I would not be suprised if she didn't last the year. Sorry to be like that, but I just don't think it is likely that she will be able to see her way clear of it; and to me it is kinda like someone who has been injured badly & is on life support; just emotionally. (I do have a son btw) I don't mean to sound down or have no faith in her; I just think she may see it as for the best. Be prepared for that. Death is not the worst thing that can happen,as I'm sure you know.

31. I understand just what you are saying. I am not sure I could survive
losing my kids either. But maybe I could. Maybe I would go out and gather up all the little broken babies I could so that we could help each other.

To be honest I try not to think about the possibility of losing my kids at all.

I cry inconsolably at the thought. If this happend to my son I would probably not consider the rest of my life worth living unless my beloved husband could talk me out of it.

35. I know what you are saying...it is inconceivable how much pain
I would feel if something were to happen to one of my children.

My mom lost her first son to crib death. I was born a year later and I guess my mom wouldn't sleep. She sat there to make sure I didn't stop breathing. My father was so worried about her, he called my grandmother to come and take care of her.

My cousin lost her 15 year old daughter in a car accident two years ago. I cannot imagine the pain.

I will be praying for comfort and peace. I cannot imagine the sorrow and grief she is feeling. She has a great cousin to support her. Take care of your own grief process, too. Sometimes those that are taking care of the grieving person fail to grieve themselves.
