Poll question: The Muppet Show 1st Season - Out Today on DVD - Favorite Muppet?
One of the funniest shows ever on TV is finally out today on DVD (1st season only so far).

From 1976-1981, this was MUST-See TV for adults and older children alike, especially those of us younger adults who never had kids and who'd been too old for Sesame Street. :)

With Kermit the Frog as the host, top names for guest stars, Fozzie Bear the resident stand-up comic with the worst groaners ever, and Statler and Waldorf as the built-in heckling team, this was the funniest half hour on TV for five years, and generated a lot of 'taglines'.

Who's your favorite "grown-up" Muppet?

7. I'm torn as well....and I'm sorry I forget Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker
My faves are Animal, The Swedish Chef and, of course, Statler and Waldorf (who got off all the really good zingers not given to the guest stars).

6. Gah!
I wasted my $ on the 2 ep/DVD sets! I can't believe I fell for that. Oh well, I think I only bought like 3.

I'll of course have to buy the full seasons.

8. I can't pick a favorite . . .
I can say it's not Piggy or Fozzie, I didn't hate them, but they aren't my favorites :).

My absolute favorite might not have even been there the first season . . . Janice is the best muppet ever. :)

13. "Dad, what's a Muppet?"
"Well, it's not quite a mop...and it's not quite a puppet...but oh, man! To answer your question: I don't know."

As for my favourite Muppet(s): Statler and Waldorf

I find surley people hilarious.

29. Oh, no, not Rowlf!!
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 06:52 PM by fifthgendem
Although I always say I love Kermit best, Rowlf is actually my favorite. He reminds me of one of my best friends in college. When he'd really get into his music, he'd wag his head just like Rowlf (and he was kinda shaggy, too-it was the 70s, after all)!

Every Saturday evening EVERTHING in the house had to stop so I could watch the Muppets. I think my roommates got more of a kick out of watching me watch the show than the show itself.

Classic television . . . I love them all!

Pigs in Space! was my favorite recurring sketch. I even had a metal PIS lunch box (I was little at the time, 6 years old, so I could get away with this).
