Edited on Sat Nov-08-03 04:19 PM by SoCalDem
We are headed for our son & daughter-in-law's for a week at Thanksgivng.. I was going to take the fixings and bake there, but I have my favorite baking pans etc.. so I guess I will bake it & take it instead..

Here's what I am going to bake:

pumpkin bread
zucchini bread
sugar cookies
apple squares
chocolate chip cookies
oatmeal cookies
peanut butter cookies..

what did I miss..??

we'll do the pie thing there.. pies are a pain to transport..

1. Wow...Can I come
Forget the turkey, I'll just eat sweets. ;-)

I don't cook anything for Thanksgiving. My sister and I trade off. I cook at Christmas and she doesn't do anything and she does Thanksgiving. I have to do dishes though x(

So Cal--Thanks for all your great advice on the other thread. :hi:

2. SoCal, You Sound Like A GREAT Baker!
I think maybe bakery bought this year... with a fresh killed capon from the chicken farm.

Do you or anyone have any recipes to share?

I'd love a good peanut butter cookie recipe... the one I've used comes out too dry.

TaTa :)

16. I just thought of cranberries in brownies..Now I love craberries and
brownies.....looking back through this thread though, So Cal & family don't like cranberries...but Cranberry brownies with walnuts thrown in?

The dried kind of cranberries, though, not fresh....would that work?

18. cranberries and chocolate?
I'm skeptical. Cranberries are a bit tart. Maybe a blond brownie would work better? Blond cream cheese brownie?

Cherries would work in chocolate -- maybe. More likely them than cranberries.

IMHO.

6. I got drafted to host Thanksgiving. My mother claims....
Edited on Sat Nov-08-03 05:08 PM by Kahuna
Her bladder is weak and when she bends over to lift the turkey.. she might lose some....... So???????? She only has to lift it once. :silly:

I'm just baking a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and some sweet potato pies. My pies rock! They make you go cross-eyed.

11. Well, if you're talking about Thanksgiving,
I'm going to Mumsy's. I'm in charge of desserts, so I'll bake some pumpkin pies while there. I'll also bring a store-bought cookie tray, a store-bought pecan pie (pronounced pe-KAHN), and maybe a store-bought apple walnut pie. Dang, I'm hungry!

15. PB Rice Krispie Treats
yeah, I know it's not baking, but that's as good as I get.

When we were talking to my mom about hospice care, I told her the alternative was my cooking. She immediately agreed to hospice. (A touch of humor during a very difficult meeting.)
