Hey DUers - GO OUTSIDE! The Lunar Eclipse has begun! |
|
They say it's best viewed on the east coast, but I can see it just fine in Ohio.
The shadow has begun to cross, and it's clearly visible (and really cool)!! At about 8:06 p.m., the phase when the darkest part of the Earth's shadow creeps across the moon's surface will begin. During this phase, the moon will change colors, from yellow to orange to copperish at the end.
Go outside and howl at the moon for a minute!!
:D Jennifer

Great. Lovr things like that. I used to stand out in mittens, jacket and boots and watch Northern lights in Akaska. Wonder what our people thought of these things 1000 years ago?

West-central Ohio, and it's pretty impressive. I've seen one lunar eclipse before, but the moon wasn't as full as it is tonight.

... but you can still see a yellow glow peek through. Only about 20 more minutes and the eclipse will be over, so if you live in a place with clear skies, let us know how beautiful it is, ok?

I found my telephoto lens and tripod today (that had been packed up for over 3 years). So it was fun to get them out there and try to capture the eclipse.
I love how the moon looks with the eclipse lighting and the shadow which reveals the roundness.

when I walked out of my 3rd floor apartment and caught it just in time. It's a gorgeous, clear night and extremely cold but I feel so invigorated from just that short time outside. :D
