Panda cub abandoned by mother

A three-day-old giant panda cub is cared for by staff at an intensive care unit at a wildlife centre in Shaanxi province, northwest China. The male cub is under close observation at the centre in Zhouzhi county after being abandoned by its mother. Eighteeen-year-old Xue Xue gave birth to twins on Saturday. The female cub, Da Xin (Joy), weighed 151g (5¼oz) and is being looked after by Xue Xue. The male, Xiao Xing (Prosperity), weighed just 122g.

3. I know it is common in the wild and in zoos for one cub to be abandoned

in a set of twins because the mother can't take care of two. Hua Mei (first successful panda birth in U.S.) had twins and one was hand raised. :hi:
