Actually, my husband's hair looked almost like that at one time.

What do you mean by horrible music? Are you talking about Jefferson Airplane? Hendrix? The Doors? or just The Dead?

hippies don't present even a positive role model for algae; at least algae has the inclination to form colonies that last. re: music: the dead, phish, any band where the "songs" last more than 20 minutes, and are enjoyed primarily (note the qualifier) by individuals who currently are (or at one point were) heavily into some form of mind-altering drug...

but people wouldn't follow the rules. You are using a pretty narrow definition of hippy. The movement was pretty large and inclusive and certainly better than its backlash. As well as helping to end a war.

Sounds like you bought into the fear-mongers propoganda. America was in up-heaval because it NEEDED TO BE! Much like modern times. The "Establishment Spin Machine" is still in high gear. Has been the whole time.
If you HAD been there you'd realise that WE had something they didn't- FREEDOM. And it scared the hell out of them.
In the words of David Crosby from "Wooden Ships"- "We are leaving... you don't need us."

|
I lived alone and completed a college education ... again by myself.
I ask no ones approval or immunity for who I have become. I was an only child, my values were developed alone as my parents were on their own trip which didn't include any guidance for one lonely little girl. I pretty pleased with what I've accomplished before I took time off from the world.
But you still haven't answered my question about 'what is troubling you ?'.
