Two more hours and the kids are out of school
My daughter was up until after 2 AM, but she actually got up this morning without a problem. Since the school hasn't called me to say otherwise, I'm assuming that all is well on this first day. Traditionally, my loses his mind on the second day, showing all of his Aspie traits at once.

5. Seriously
Given the lack of sleep last night, I might offer cheese to go with the whine.

imagine sending them this soon.

Hope your son will make the transition ok. *hugs*

3. I'm actually worried more about my daughter
It's a new school for her, same school for him. She couldn't sleep because she was so nervous.

9. AWWWW
Kiddy Garden is fun! First grade is where my son had problems...couldn't sit still.

My daughter is a fourth grader this year. they split them up into Primary (Pre-K - 3rd) then Elementary (4-6). She's at the same school as her brother, but it's all new to her!

12. My daughter is in 4th grade this year, too....
....but she's real excited about going back. It's a new school for her, but she'll have a lot of friends there. LISD opened a new elementary school and we asked that she be assigned there. She saw a lot of buds from her old school when we went to the open house, and a few of the teachers from her old school have moved over, too.

17. Well, mine was thrilled that her best friend is in her class again
However, there seems to be a little girl described as "thinks she's all that but she's mean!" from last year that is also in her class again. She seemed concerned about this little meanie.

My daughter had a couple of bullies in her class last year. That's what prompted us (in part) to move her to the new school, although you find that everywhere. Girl bullying is so much more subtle than it is with boys. She was absolutely terrified of this one girl. My daughter would cry at night about the situation, she was so totally stressed out. It took a couple of meetings with the school officials to work it out.

Edit: I'm glad for your daughter. It helps to have a close pal, especially at that age.

23. I told her that there will always be somebody
Who she doesn't like and who doesn't like her. She just has to learn how to deal with these people. As a female, I can tell you that girls are brutal!

15. We are SO lucky here. Our school has all of 60 kids and it is
grades K-8. The Kiddy garden kids have the same teacher as the first grade and she is WONDERFUL. Sweet, gentle, generous, kind.. lgiht-filled. So I have no qualms about my littlest guy going off to school.

Bigger guy is moving on to grades 2-3 room, but his new teacher is a doll too. Honestly, we stay in this town mainly because of the school. Best public school in our area, hands down.

Lockhart ISD doesn't start up until Monday the 15th, which is still too soon in my book.

10. Well, you're lucky on the not living in Houston thing.....
...but whatever school district you're in is a stickler, for sure. But I guess you don't get the record. My parents live up in East Texas, near the Texarkana-Atlanta-Linden area. Kids in their district started Monday of this week.

Or anywhere for that matter. Lots of trees, some GREAT fishing spots, lots of winding country roads and small town atmosphere.....I lovbe Central Texas, and this is home now, but sometimes I miss the old stomping grounds. I was born and raised in Texarkana.

32. Well, I moved to Houston in 1982.
Moved OUT in 1996. I don't make it up to East Texas much anymore, even though my parents live there. Still get to H-town sometimes, even though the traffic stresses me out something terrible.

11. Yes! I slept from 3:30 AM to 6:45 AM
That was 45 minutes longer than intended, but since I was taking them to school today, it was all good. The bus comes at 7, that would have been bad.

I am not on a sleep schedule at all. I thought about crashing after I took papers to a temp agency, but I know better. I'm picking the kids up today, and I might not hear an alarm, so I'm just staying up.

31. I will admit
It does catch up with me eventually. Once every couple of weeks, I have to spend Saturday or Sunday dozing off...The rest of the time, who the hell needs sleep?

I have found that ever since Cindy went to Crawford, I CANNOT sleep anyway. I doze off, start having weird dreams (the other day I dreamed that my trailer was surrounded by a SWAT Team and I was locked in my bedroom under a blanket... :wtf: ), and wake up again. They've put a mom in a ditch, and this mom is pissed!

It will take me fifteen minutes to get there. I'm sure there are tons of people who will beat me there that live much closer, but oh well. Maybe I can find a spot to park instead of sitting in a line of cars that doesn't move.
