1. Glad you liked it! I'm seeing it tomorrow.
That said I've heard VERY mixed opinions about it.

Seeing it anyway though.

2. It's awesome - don't believe the critics
Edited on Sat Nov-08-03 09:35 PM by Cronus
I think the existential and cultural references are way, way over the reviewers heads. I suppose higher learning is not a requirement to be a movie reviewer. And there's plenty of fun for the lowbrow people anyway - the action sequences are great! Some of them are farking awesome!

It's got something for everyone, for gay people, there's Keanu and a lot of hunky beefcake, a boy sidekick character, an obvious lesbian couple who are HOT. For the hets, there's the obligatory romance threads with all the main characters. The amount of diversity in this movie is stunning - they have every possible race in key roles, including a beautiful Indian girl in a key character role. For the elderly, there's plenty of great actors playing leadership and wisdom roles.

I don't think anyone could improve on this movie. It's stunning in all respects.

4. Don't go in with huge expectations
and you won't be disappointed! Not to say that it's sub-par by any means - I just think a lot of the negativity surrounding the movie is coming from people who expected more and didn't get what they wanted.

I had my doubts as well after hearing so many bad reviews, but I saw it yesterday and thought it was great. Hope you enjoy it too.

3. I Just Saw Mystic River
it was amazing - Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, Tim Robbins, Lawrence Fishburn, Laura Linney, and Marsha Gay Hardin....were all so good.

I liked Matrix, wish I would have printed out this thing MSN had on the other day regarding the charachters and time line of the story. I'll have to see it once more to "get it" -

5. Mystic River is
awesome. How could it not be with that cast? I love all of them, and Clint Eastwood composed the music, did you stay for the credits? No doubt Clint is being kicked by his fellow republicans for daring to work wiith that cast. :toast:

13. Clint Eastwood Is A Conservative That I Respect
He does not let his political views cloud his thinking nor his art. In fact, he's a true conservative.

8. You mean this?
Timeline: When is 'The Matrix?'

LOS ANGELES (AP) - What is the Matrix?

That's an old question. The real head-scratcher is:

When is the Matrix?

Using background culled from the three movies and ``Animatrix'' shorts, The Associated Press compiled an estimated timeline of the war between men and machines:

7. it's a war movie (*spoilers*)
It even has an evil Frenchman going 'hoh hoh hoh' for bonus antagonism. Something for everyone I guess.

10. I can't go....I hated the "second one" so much. Is it like that one..
whatever it was called.....Ugh....boring. Does this one have a plot? Does it go back to the original?
I don't care how good the action is....Plot is more important.

12. The plot stinks, but the action is good.
Come on, no one should be thinking at a Matrix movie. And yeah, people that say "man, he's taken the blue pill!" or "he's in the matrix, dude!" sound pretty ridiculous to me. Also those who made money off a book called "Philosophy of the Matrix" mystify me.

The movie is full of cliches--it has no less than two slowly dying people gasping out their last wishes.

But for all that, I was entertained--it's still money well spent.
