3. Get some clove oil - quick |
|
until you can get to the dentist - actually the clove oil will relieve the pain better than prescription narcotics - but the combination will not make you care so much about it.
Sorry about this - I can sympathize.

8. I had that happen a few weeks ago. |
|
It sucks getting older--I keep falling apart. My dentist just wound up putting a really big filling where a chunk fell off my tooth and everything is okay now.

Just gone. I can feel a very small, jagged edge on one part of the tooth, but other than that, it's gone.

Last year I broke one of my (almost) front teeth off on a friggin' sandwich while I was at work. It was bad. I looked like a Hee Haw extra for about 2 weeks.

13. Get thee to an endodontist. |
|
It will need to be rooted, posted and capped. A regular dentist cannot do that. One needs a dental microscope to find all the root canals in a molar.

|
no root canal. Don't freak Butterfly out any more than is necessary.

22. She said she broke off about 90%. |
|
If it is all dentin, then you are right. If the pulp is exposed, RTC is necessary. I know because I have had about a dozen of them.
By the way, the procedure is a piece of cake. It just takes awhile. No cause to be nervous, at least until you get the bill.

25. They did a root canal a few years ago on that tooth |
|
There's no roots to canal this time. I imagine they'll probably just take out the whole freaking thing.

My dental plan will cover an extraction or a stainless steel crown at 100%, but a post and crown at only 60%. So I may just go for the extraction, since it's a back tooth anyway.

33. You know best, but ... |
|
... it is a major chewing tooth. If you extract, you should at least get a partial made so the other teeth don't shift around. It will also help preserve the site for a bridge or implant later.

28. For those who don't know, ... |
|
putting aluminum in your mouth creates a galvanic reaction when in contact with acidic saliva and metal crowns or fillings. In other words, your mouth becomes an electric battery. This will send an electric shock into your tooth. It hurts even if there is nothing wrong. If the nerve is inflamed, they will be peeling you off the ceiling.
