As if telemarkerters, spam and junk mail wasn't bad enough. Link: http://www.wired.com/news/gizmos/0,1452,60610,00.html

1. Then I'll cancel my cell phone and tell them why. With indignation. |
|
I'd rather have my car fail in the middle of nowhere and freeze to death than be a part of this capitalism fascism. The moment I get a message is the moment I cancel my service.
And with cell phone 'premiums' being $50 on up per month, with ever-increasing fees (or so they claim), I'd have that much more monetary freedom anyway, though as I've boycotted most of the industries out there I can only save it. :-)
"Customers actually appreciate good, targeted messages," said Jonathon Linner... F U, Jonathon, you blood sucking leech! You're obviously doped up if you think people want this shit. Truly doped on something none of us should be taking. Most people do not like any targeted messages and I loathe them with every fiber of my being. x(

2. I Was Thinking About Getting A Cell PCMCIA Card Too |
|
Well, forget about that. Television, billboards and magazine advertising are bad enough not to mention the 85% ad space in my local Sunday paper. I don't want my Notebook or cell phone to be infected too.

3. That's a scary thought |
|
Adverts popping up on your laptop because Wendy's has a new hexagonal-shaped cheeseburger that contains only 902% of the daily allotment of saturated fat... oh, and onions, and a 'special sauce' that you probably wouldn't want to know the ingredients of...
But, in all honesty, this helps American business! People WANT to know of these good deals that benefit them! :eyes: (when we all know that spyware and popup-blocking programs, national do-not-call lists, and so on, are extremely popular with the American public. How come corporations still say we like their ads? We clearly don't!)
This will also create a new business! A business of software that will block cell phone ads! Isn't that awesome? It'll save the American economy because it will create jobs and create prosperity!!! (But then you find out the software was merely written and compiled in India and e-mailed to the marketing office in San Diego, CA, which upon approval then gets forward to Taiwan so it can be burned into the EEPROM chips that get carted off to China where the phone is assembled... and then shipped to the US for John Q Consumer who then gets to listen to a ton of messages from Nestle about their new candy bar, the latest Lexus car, and that new $150 Nike shoe (that was sewn by an old lady in a sweatshop who got paid a quarter for making it...)
Why hasn't the whole world officially turned against the US by now? It must surely be realizing how the US is shamelessly exploiting the peoples and resources of the world just so a few of its citizens can reap excessive 'rewards'. I feel sorry for Bush's replacement, whoever he/she may be... the future ain't pretty.

4. but think about this.... |
|
If one company decides to go through with it, NOT having it will become a selling point for other companies. I can hear it now: "Choose AT&T Wireless... no unwanted text messages... low monthly rate"
My theory is when a cell company's sales plummet because people don't want the ads, the whole trend of cell-spam will have played itself out.
