Just on NBC: Old SNL, Reagan Bible Thumping
Hehe... Maybe things aren't the worst they've ever been... Maybe the freepers have always been pulling this crap.

I think they're weaker today than they were in the 80s!

1. I believe that it was the reactions like this SNL skit that lionized Repub
licans who then felt very oppressed under Clinton. Mind you, I think that reaction by conservatives was short sighted and self serving, but was the conservative Christian's reaction, nonetheless. Those Republicans (and a lot of them will be Republicans their whole lives barring a major catastrophe {perhaps something like, say, 9/11}) are older now, and can even tolerate Bush* for four years. The question is, will they want to invite him back next year? Honestly, it's possible some of them will not want to vote for Bush*. I personally feel we should avoid angering the Christian right.

I don't associate myself politically with them at all, but I have to deal with my family who are avid Christians. I think the only way to get them or any of that large minority to vote for someone else is to keep away from religious issues...not stir the hornet's nest, so to speek.

This is all part of what I consider the new PC. PC is now a conservative issue, rather than a liberal one. Liberals now must watch their language carefully...a concept that conservatives felt was thrust upon them for many years in the late 20th Century. Liberals now must be willing to do the same thing, and it really is hard.

2. Could point out church/states have never worked I guess.
This country has done it plus every other place in the world. It is an interesting study and these people usually do not see that even their beliefs come under the gun at one time. I heard a man on TV a few years ago say this and my hair stood on end. This may not be just the quote but it was this in so many words. We were a Chistian country and what was most important is what type of Christian country we would be and believe in. In other words his and only that one Christian belief.Scary would you not say? We are better off not messing with this Southern "christian church" as they are reading the bible and taking things from it that no one else seem to see or find but them. They are using it to do the things they wish and more and more they are telling us God put Bush in office. Other zealots have used this and made an awful lot of troulbe for this world.Every ruler in History has used God gave him this power to rule and once the ruler ties him self with hand out for the church it has worked for sometime.A joint power play and if you think it is old just look at the Czars. We could make a list.Very scary for us right now.And if they do not win the 2004 election? Either way I see trouble.
