True Story....

When I first started out in business as an accountant about 15-20 years ago, I put an add in the white pages which stated simply, Chris Green, accountant......

So I would occasionally get calls, not many but every nw nd then I would pick up someone who needed some help.....

Now as you might or might not know, there is a very large population of African Americans living in and around the City of Cleveland, where I just happened to be from....

There also, it seems, is a very successful bail bonds man by the name of, you guessed it, Chris Green, who made his career as the bails bondsman of the African American Commuinity.....

It wasn't the first year, nor the second but around year three of my phone book listing, which had never changed, I started to get late night phone calls from distressed african americans who just happened, out of some mis carriage of justice, to have found themselves in a state of incarceration...... I would apologize and say I am not the bails bondsman, I am an accountant....

I would always ask if this was there last quarter, and if it was, I would take down the name and jail and pass that info on to the other Chris....

It seems someone had accident carved my name into the wall by the phone booth at a couple of local jails.....

Three years later, I was at a fund raiser for a Judge and his bailiff wanted to introduce me to this guy I should get to know....

It was the Black Chris Green and he held out his hand and said, glad to meet you white Chris Green.......

are there very many people in this country who do not have at least 5,000 people living within 500 miles of them who are idiots or a$$holes. I mean for me, in semi-rural Kansas, a 500 mile radius would go at least up to Omaha and Des Moines over to St. Louis, down to KC and OKC. That's gotta be over 10 million people which would mean alot of idiots or a$$holes. They cannot all be his friend.

And I know a lot of thee guys just got in trouble for being in the wrong place at the wrong time....

Mostly Suburban arrests......

The one who called me four times at three AM, not so much nice with him....... I finnaly just gave up and told him to sleep it off....

I switched of my phone that night...

He was hugely successful....

Really a daper man when I met him, slight of build and only about 5'7" or so....

I ended up getting a new phone number when I started to rely on my cell more and more, in the mid 90's...

really didn't need the extra line....

So I dropped the ad and the number...

Now all of my business is by word of mouth....
