While we are talking about walking down memory lane...
Closer to My Home, Grand Funk....

I remember my parents had just gotten divorced, my mom had remarried and I had decided to stay with my dad....

Well, i went to visit my mom and Brother and Sister the week before School Started.... 8th grade...

This song came on when I was all alone in the house one morning.....

I decided to move in with my mom...

It felt just right....

A Schlocky to say the least but......

Memories, sweet sweet memories.....

1. My memory is quite different from yours.
I am a little older than you. But when Grand Funk came out with that song, I was blown away by the instrumentation leap they took in doing that song. Virtually all of their previous songs were straight ahead three piece blues rock.

"Closer To Home" holds a special place in my past.

:)

3. Another song memory from moi
I had it so bad from this girl from Tampico Mexico, she broke my heart in the end. But anyway, the whole thing introduced me to Mambo music. I remember she took me to a club for Latin night.. there was a remix of Rosemary Clooney's Mambo Italiano.
The way she looked dancing to it...yowza.
Whenever I hear that song I think of her.
We're still friends.

8. I remember it
sometimes the FM stations here would "album track" and announce it as "I'm Your Captain" and play the complete ten minute version...

My fave Grand Funk song was "Paranoid" ...a great hippy military song...

19. well, I did mean for there to be more
a picture is worth a thousand words and you don't have to say them all here at once just try to keep them in mind
I'm sorry I can't express myself clearly why I changed my sig pic, it was basically a response to the new rule and I wanted something a little different!

I can understand why you wanted something different...and this is a beautiful picture......

Thank you....
